My opinion is that “gouging” is an imaginary offense invented by socialists to sell their bad ideas. If there’s a free market, you can’t get more than the market price for long.
My own insurance is up for renewal soon. If the insurance company offers to raise the price a lot I will certainly shop around. But that disagreeable offer would still be better than them just cancelling my policy and walking away.

Your house goes form being worth 400K to 900K and the cost of insurance is gonna go up if the insurance company wants to remain viable.
