—> Even if he doesn’t get the nomination he and his rabid supporters

And here you refer to us FReepers??

—-> The MSM and Dems have to keep him at the top.

Really doesn’t matter to me who the left prefers to run against.

he has turned off a significant segment of his potential voters

You know who has provably turned off a significant segment of his potential voters? Ron DeSantis. He has peeled off huge numbers of GOP primary voters who were in his camp in January.

This latest "Dems-prefer-Trump" talking point replaces the no-longer-operative "Wait-til-he-announces" talking point.

The tanking DeSantis campaign has become totally cringe. DeSantis supporters cannot explain how he becomes the GOP champion when he cannot beat Trump for the GOP nomination.

your proven quantity is a string of losses. Trump can’t win the 5 swing states in a general election, and that is all that matters. No one who voted Biden in 2020 will turn around and vote Trump in 2024. DeSantis ran Florida very well and is a proven leader. Trump is yesterday, and you are giving us four more years of Biden.

What a joke. DeSantis is smarter than Trump. These people will say anything.

You losers were saying the same thing in 2016 and 2020. Never in my lifetime has there been a more popular candidate for POTUS then Trump is now, that's just a fact. Reagan was the closest and the dems and weak minded rinos said the same things about him.

Since liberals lack critical thinking skills and are incapable of rational thought, I don’t bother with them. So who cares?

“You go ahead and base your decisions on what the liberal talking heads say on tv. I’ll stick with a proven quantity, TRUMP!”

OK. Let’s consider what your “proven quantity” has done.

- Lost the House overwhelmingly in 2018, putting Pelosi in power

- Lost the White House in 2020

- Lost the Senate in 2022, when several of his weak candidates (including Oz and Herschel) went down in winnable races

- Picked unnecessary fights with leaders that would be essential to a 2024 victory (like Brian Kemp, Kim Reynolds and others).

- Spent $25M in despicable attack ads against DeSantis in the first six months of 2023 (attacking him from the left in those ads!)

-Criticized DeSantis for signing pro-life legislation in Florida

- Became entangled in numerous legal escapades that, at the least, would be major distractions from running an effective campaign. He’s currently using campaign donations to pay legal bills.

Admittedly, while in office he did some positive things, especially on energy and USSC picks. But the American electorate took a close look at him and said no to a second term. There is no reason to think the results would be any different this time.

I like Trump fine and have supported him in the past, but I also like winning elections, and DeSantis offers the best shot at taking the country back in 2024

That ‘far-left host’ is working for the democrats, and the democrats are telling her to use their ‘reverse psychology’ tactic on Trump vs DeSantis.

Democrats want to make sure that they don’t face Trump again, because Trump will win again, just like he did in 2016 and 2020. So, they want to make people believe that Trump is their preference going against Trump, but what they really want is DeSantis. DeSantis is not the known quantity that Trump has been for the last 8 years, and democrats don’t want any more of Trump. Trump as a record in running the presidency, while DeSantis is only running a state which would have been doing just as good with any other republican.

Fear of Trump why the real democrat preference is DeSantis. Using reverse psychology is smart, but, most people can see through that tactic.

Maybe you can sell me on Desantis. What I like about Trump is he is an outsider who probably will not just do whatever the republicrat party wants him to.

So, you are one of those who believes Biden actually got 81 million votes. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

What's really going on is the usage of reverse psychology here. Trying to make the people who think like you that they fear Ron DeSantis, when they realize that Ron DeSantis has no chance in the general election. They think we on the right are stupid people. While some are, most are not. This is nothing but a ruse designed with the hope that it will make people think they fear DeSantis, and will rush to him to defeat the Democrats in 2024.

It's not working when these people say it, just as it is not working when RINOs say it.

DeSantis is still in free fall mode. Even team DeSantis "Never Back Down" realizes it, and are trying to organize a reboot launch. It will produce no different result, as the damage is done. The Democrats can manipulate their primary process. They can only manipulate the Republican primary in places that have open primaries. Will Republicans open all their primaries to allow Democrats to have more influence? I certainly wouldn't put it past them. In which case we all become losers.

TPUSA (Turning Point USA) is having some sort of gathering & they invited all of the Republican president candidates to come speak to MAGA. Ron DeSantis, Tim Scott, Chris Christie & Nikki Haley declined. Big mistake of their part, because they cannot win without MAGA support, and the majority of MAGA is not leaving Trump.

Even in Florida, DeSantis is losing support.

So, get your warm & fuzzy, and experience that tingle up your leg, because DeSantis is going nowhere faster than a high-speed train can get to nowhere.

Those are just the facts.

Don't kid yourself. The Democrats will go after and try to destroy DeSantis the same as they went after Trump.

“he has turned off a significant segment of his potential voters, harming himself and other Republican candidates on the ballot.”

Oh stop it.
Florida Man never had a chance.

Never Trumpers are Never Trumpers. They never supported MAGA and never will.
If they don’t vote for our PDJT The GOAT, the ruination of the country under Dem Rule will be their fault.
And many will be just fine with that.

We did the McRomBush crapola for decades.
Never Again.

The question gets down to Independents, a large piece, almost one third, of the national electorate. They control who wins.
If they want Biden out, does anyone on the other side but Trump, reverberate with them. Apparently, it did in the 2020 election. The left wing media has made that calculation and they are all in when it comes to Trump. DeSantis, in that respect, is less of an uphill climb with Independents that want to unload Biden.

“The question gets down to Independents, a large piece, almost one third, of the national electorate. They control who wins”.

You are absolutely right. One objective piece of evidence suggests who has bigger appeal among independents. Trump carried Florida over Joe Biden by 3%. DeSantis carried Florida by 19%. DeSantis was able to reach and persuade independents to come aboard, something that Trump is not able to do.

Beyond that, Trump has offended so many mainstream Republicans that he is left with only his die-hard fans, which make up at most 43% of the electorate.

DeSantis is moving to the right of Trump to force the debate.

In fact, he may be trying to put his campaign out of business knowing that dethoning Trump isn’t the goal but the highlighting the issues that truly define the party is most important.
