I identified myself as a Jewish American, not as an American Jew. That shows that I am an American of a particular religious heritage, not as a religion identified person first, then an American last.
It is word semantics and can be confusing but I did identify myself as an American first with the religious description as a religious belief only.
This allowed me to rip into Goldman from two different perspectives.
In Vietnam and Cambodia where I was a journalist, I was an American to our allies. Religion was largely irrelevant to the Buddhists, Catholics, Meo tribesmen, and Hoa Hao sect.
