There were a few decades where almost EVERYONE stayed up for, at least, the Johnny Carson opening monolog. We were working a swing shift at a large grocery store. We had a radio that had AM FM SW & some television audio reception. At exactly 11:30pm we would make sure to catch The Tonight Show opening monolog. Oh! Those were the days!

Can’t remember where I read it years ago but someone said in a classroom of K-6 kids there was a TV in the corner above the class and it had only snow for about 10 minutes. All the kids one by one stopped talking and stared almost in a trance silently looking at the screen watching for the educational program to start.
