It was The Alice Cooper Band until 1974.
“Welcome To My Nightmare” in 1975, was the first Alice Cooper “solo” record.
Alice Cooper is actually nice guy. He and Glenn Campbell were good friends.
His stage act is just that, an act.
Vincent Price never attended medical school so why did he go by the name “Dr Phibes” in one of his movies?
He was playing a role!
The band used “Alice Cooper” rather than “The Alice Cooper Band”. That’s the name that appeared on all of the albums from “Pretties For You” to “Muscle Of Love”. Originally they wanted to call themselves “Nazz” before they found out about Todd Rundgren’s band using that name.
The first two albums were very reminiscent of the kind of experimental music that the Mothers of Invention were playing.
It isn’t meant to be taken literally-it was originally the name of the band, not the guy-his name is really Vince Furnier, and he has always been pretty much a conservative type, which apparently still drives the liberal crowd nuts. His on-stage impersonation of a certifiable lunatic is just that-an act, same as any other entertainer looking for a “persona’ to max their profits-it is just business as usual. I’ve been a fan for many years-”No more mister nice guy, no more mister clean”!...
He’s a Born Again Christian, a very stand-up guy. He supposedly got the idea of the on-stage guillotine from his friend George Burns. He and Glenn Campbell played a lot of golf. Dad was a cop. Has been known to be there for many a rocker going through hard times with a bible verse or two and a kind ear.
Nope, always just Alice Cooper. Not named after a witch, not from an Ouija Board, just a name the band thought sounded like a wholesome American woman of the time, which the Band definitely was not. Come see Alice Cooper and see the singer get his head chopped off! Like Vince/ Alice said, it was like Vaudeville, but parents didn’t understand that, which made them a lot of money.
Based on some of your posts on threads like this one, I just have to ask if you are a fan of rock music made after the end of the bubblegum era-maybe 1965? Just an idle, curious question FRiend...
“which made them a lot of money.”
Thank you for pointing that out!!!
Faggotry at its natural evolution
“This is getting confusing.”
Alice is 75.
He gets confused everyday.
He is 75, he does not know what to say.
Me either
Corporate America has gone insane.
“the LGBTQIA+ community “
Don’t they realize how idiotic that sounds and how dumb they are?
Indeed.
I know that. I was just remarking that he is more trustworthy than the traditionally most “trustred” institutions.
Maybe I didn’t word it right.
I’ve noticed in Youtube videos that Tony Iommi wears a cross necklace a lot. I can’t tell if it’s ironic or if he might be a believer. Anybody know his beliefs?
I doubt he cares. He’s probably doing okay financially.
“Told her that I came from Detroit City
And I played guitar in a long haired rock and roll band
She asked me why the singer’s name was Alice
I said ‘listen baby, you really wouldn’t understand’
And I said
Baby, if you want to, be my lover...”
Ask SALAMANDER... she can tell you why the band’s name is ALICE COOPER.
