Could they all have been paid off? Or maybe paid and the thieving, lying, criminal, third world, government also threatened them/their families?

the subpoena was invalid because they were trying to use it to pierce Executive privilege without getting a court order first.

Trump has to be the one to exert “executive privilege” in order to protect someone, but he never did, for Navarro (or Bannon). Navarro can’t claim executive privilege, himself.

There are others who didn’t comply with the subpoenas, who weren’t prosecuted, because they responded differently than Navarro and Bannon did. Those two just asserted executive privilege themselves, and refused to even have their lawyers engage with the other side at all, and so they were the ones prosecuted.

I don’t support their selective prosecution, but sometimes defiance has a cost. They may even have wanted it to happen and provoked it as a proverbial badge of honor. But as I said others who refused to testify weren’t prosecuted so it wasn’t inevitable.
