Well, it turns out that this is edited down a little bit, but naturally, I like my version!

A lot about past populations’ numbers can be estimated from genetic clues. (My Dad’s PhD was in Forest Genetics.)

That dip #3 is near certainty (under 1000 breeding individuals) and coincides right with the temperature pattern. Damn close call...

There is no evidence of humans in North America more than 25,000 years ago. South America, less. In China, “we” might go back 100,000 years, India, around 65,000 years.

All except that with some smarts and some time, we don’t have to die out.

If we can’t send a generational ship to the vicinity of a younger or slower “burning” star after another 1000 years, we don’t deserve to survive.

That would make a good two hour animated cartoon, one meant for both children and adults. Claire du Lune, by Debussy would be included in the soundtrack.
Spark Zarathura and The Trout Quintet by Franz Schubert as well.

Actually there is evidence of human tools in NA, CA USA 150,000ya and SA 350,000ya.

No one talks about these findings because they would face legal action from the Tribes because their “Special Rights” derive from their self-proclaimed “Creation” in NA.

But the findings are detailed, just hard to find for the above reason.

Interesting about the tools! Link?

I wonder how primitive humans would have reached SA 200,000 years earlier than NA?

I still don't know of any evidence of humans in those areas going back ~900,000 years, though.

Also, we have the genetics of the descendants of those who did survive in, say, North America, from however far back, to analyze. If their "code" tells us their ancestors were some of the peoples known to have migrated to NA more recently, then the question is what happened to the earlier peoples? Maybe they got killed off by later arrivals?

No one talks about these findings because they would face legal action from the Tribes because their “Special Rights” derive from their self-proclaimed “Creation” in NA.

That doesn't make sense to me. Every source I've ever seen, (even fairly recent) states that "Native Americans" ancestors arrived in North America 16,000 to 25,000 years ago. Wouldn't these "Tribes" you mention be even more incensed about that? There'd surely be a lot more targets with a lot more money to go after than some obscure(?) researchers...

The tribes get first notification of any archeological finds. Any human remains are immediately interred without study.

There was a famous case in CA that the tribes fought tooth an nail - the remains showed humans were in CA way before the then accepted date - the archeologists after long court battle managed to get a plastic replica of the skull to study, no DNA tests, and the skull was interred by the tribes somewhere.

I believe the archeologist who released the findings faced a personal legal battle, and no longer is in the profession.

After that no one really wants to look for anything because of the Tribes power over any findings. Until that changes, it is pointless to look. The legal basis of the Tribes standing is based on their “creation” tales so any thing that challenges that is a threat to the Tribal ruling families and the life stye they have become accustomed to. FYI: most tribal peoples do not live on a res for that very reason - the insanity and duplicity of the ruling families - some even see them as practitioners of black magic.

We do know of the Clovis peoples, but they were killed off by the comet fragments the rained down on NA 12,900 ya. Whatever was in NA, prior to that, was cleansed by the continent-wide fire storms that lasted 100 years, and the subsequent inundation of the coastal plains from the melting ice at the end of the Younger Dryas Event.

See the Carolina Bays and Nebraska Rainwater basins.

I still don’t see the legal basis from the “creation tales” because the migration(s?) from Asia is so well established. The genetic evidence is very clear that modern day Native Americans ancestors originally came from Asia, with disagreements about timing:

Take it up with SCOTUS.

Their “rights” are enshrined in the US Constitution; their sovereignty was solidified by Noxious Nixon.

Later, some one established the migration theory. You cannot take sovereignty away from them as they are solid Dem voters, and an established group that the public loves.

As for genetic origins, the Canadian Lakota have large amounts of Denisovian DNA.

But just because the present “Indians” have Asian DNA, does not mean they used the Bering Corridor - that’s a theory. There is evidence that they could have come up from South America.

Agreed on that last, but that also still blows up the “creation” myth. Asian DNA is Asian DNA.

What somebody needs to do is push a case with the present knowledge to the current Supreme Court. It’s not like they never change their opinion... (Yeah, I know, double negative there.)

Whenever possible the Court always rules in favor of the Tribes. I think that in the past 50 years I’ve followed the tribes in Court, they only lost one minor case.

And who has standing to bring such a case? Once brought it becomes a political issue on which any politician is automatically on the wrong side as far as most voters are concerned. Not to mention the millions of dollars it would take to bring it.

Prognosis: no such case will ever be brought.

I have to emphasize that the Tribes being enshrined in the Constitution (we, the general public are not), can do no wrong. As the Court has said on 3 occasions I remember:

The Tribes have Rights guaranteed by the Constitution; all others (you & me) have mere privileges which can be revoked at any given time.
