I suspect that the Lahaina residents are about to get a real-life taste of what the Native Americans experienced at the hand of “big government”. All in the name of “progress”.

There is probably a lot of crap in those heaps of ash that used to be a home or business. I would think the government is going to want that stuff remediated pretty quickly. Doing it for free is “the nice” way of handling it. If these things get hung up in probate…they health department will declare it a health issue and clear it out. That’s the “not so nice” way of getting things done.
You need a death certificate to move forward with probate tho. We just had to go through that with my son’s death in June. If there’s no body, there’s no death certificate, so they’re at a standstill. Except the govt is pushing them to make a decision or be fined.
Concrete blocks is a new detail that I haven’t heard before. I thought the videos of the police officers and cars blocking the intersection were pretty clear and there were no concrete blocks. The two police cars were parked front bumper to front at about 90 degrees. Then the police officers directed the fleeing back towards the fire. No concrete blocks.
I saw the blocks in the Okeefe videos.
Native Hawaiians say “slow down” and that they need time to figure out what to do.

A friend did a job searching for unmarked graves in Hawaii. The local witch doctor disagreed with his findings to the highway department. It was up to the witch doctor to tell them which graves still had the spirits in them (and sacred), and which graves the spirits had departed and were okay to disturb.
The highway department ceded to the witch doctor.
I can’t imagine the local native witch doctor would be okay with such a rapid clearing of Lahaina.
I beg to differ that it was a screw up.
I think it was intentional start to finish.
A screw up would not be so thoroughly efficient in having so many things go wrong so completely.

Back in the day it was the UN’s Agenda 21 (to get people out of the country and live in town).
The city that I live in has been going gang-busters with a new light-rail just to be about completed and TONS of 5-story condos, parks and trails to make it a walk-able city (the Downtown area anyway).
In the city planning materials it talks about following Agenda 21. Well, it did 3 years ago. Perhaps now it has been updated to whatever thing they are calling it now.
In spite of all of the development in the city center, no upgrades have been made to the roads in (or out) of it.

It’s a two-for. They burned everything to the ground to dispossess the owners of their property and for good measure, they blocked the roads to try and cremate as many owners as possible so there would be no one to claim ownership of even the land.
The government is working for somebody and that somebody isn’t us.

Here’s the way the government works. If you’re dead or as a property owner you don’t pay your real estate tax, the gov’t will treat your property as abandoned and have it escheated to the state. So, you can appreciate the more dead Lahaina property owners the better.
