Horrible? Wouldn’t you pass out before you suffocate?

Just isolate the entire Death Row wing of the prisons, both men and women, and pump in nitrogen? get rid of all of them at once.

Would making a condemned prisoner read The New York Times until he chokes to death on his own vomit be considered cruel and unusual punishment?!?

Execute by the exact same method the scumbag used on their victims.

Try the Belgium euthanasia technique. Tie him down and put a pillow on his face. The RATs used this method on Scalia and it worked well.

I would think this is a very humane way to go for a death penalty.

Naw... public and televised garroting would have more impact on people thinking that crime is a good idea.

Fantasy scare mongering. Nitrogen asphyxia is painless. You pass out in seconds from lack of oxygen. Brain and heart death follows prolonged absence of oxygen. About 3 minutes. No botched IVs. No miscalculated drug doses. No lethal substance to taint the body. It's effective and the lawyers have nothing substantive to argue.

So, New York Times, what is a non-horrible way of killing people on death row? We’re listening...

“their nose and mouth would be covered by a mask, and nitrogen would be pumped into their lungs until they suffocate.”
Bullcrap. You don’t suffocate. You get no sensation that you are breathing anything but air, then without warning, lights out. Nitrogen does not trigger the body’s natural sense that it cannot get air.
That is why it is so deadly in the workplace.

Nitrogen narcosis supposedly causes a euphoria similar to a lot of recreational drugs. Why would that be “horrible”?

I occasionally set a trap in the back yard to catch a critter of some sort messing things up.
Raccoons, possums or armadillos usually, and I take them to a park some miles away.
Every so often, I'll catch a skunk.
Well, you can't just walk up to a skunk in a trap and say
"Excuse me Mr. Skunk, I didn't mean to trap you so please don't spray me".
So, I gently cover the trap with a large sheet of plastic.
Then I fill up a 96 gallon trash can full of water.
I swiftly pick up the trap and drop it in the water.
No more skunk problem.
Why can't we do that with these b*stards?

Firing squad would be a lot quicker, cheaper and painless. However it would be tough mentally on the inmate.
To: aculeus
If they have gotten to death row and to the execution date, lots of court time, deliberation by judges and juries and appeals have occurred. At that point, death being swift is the only merciful judicial requirement. Even if it is painful, as long as death is swift, it is fine in my book.
If the liberals are too concerned, then dope them up before the execution.
