It helps to recall it’s really not about vanquishing one’s rivals but about maintaining the hysteria of impending war so “the powers that be” can continue controlling and distracting us while extracting huge wealth through the war and finance industries.
In countries we characterize as villains, their “powers that be” are know as oligarchs. Here we call them Congressmen, Senators, governors, and various other officials as well as directors and chairmen. Oh, and sometimes presidents and vice presidents. Gotta keep the party going, so we move from one Hitleresque enemy to the next, hoping not too many notice the boondoggle.

The thing with China, unlike Russia, is that once China’s strong enough, they’ll simply put-down any country that yaps at them, and that includes the US. But before that, they’re happy to have their enemies believe that they’re dumb and week.

You omitted Laos, Vietnam, and Eritrea, all of which are officially one-party states.
But there is a long list of nations that are effectively one-party states, even though minor parties are legally able to exist. Japan and South Korea are examples. In Japan, the LDP has ruled since the end of General MacArthur’s dictatorship, with only a couple brief lapses. In Korea, multiple parties have ruled since the dictatorship of Rhee, but they are the same establishment with a new name.
China’s collapse is a lot like those robots that do housework, you hear about them a lot, but you never see anything happening.
