What’s it like still living in the 1980’s? Familiar is comfortable, right? Nice sharp lines, black/white, blue/red.
The German soldier spoke with an especially thick Swabian accent (vo' derr Alp 'raa), but the Russian soldier was fortunately a scholar, in his spare time, of Oberdeutsch in general and Alemannic dialects in particular, and so had no difficulty in deciphering his dying gasps and mutterings.
Funny how that sometimes works out.
