I think it has more to do with protecting Biden from unwanted attention of the low-information voters. All the talk about suitcases of cash and gold bars in the senator’s home is easier to understand than shell companies. And when the senator is exposed as taking bribes, it makes it easier to fathom that the president was doing similar.

I’ve been wondering why the Dems have been after Menendez when, at least today, they NEVER go after their own.
...they must have someone waiting in the wings, possibly with White House potential, but first they need to get him started, hence he’ll take Menedez’s seat.
