Could we actually get a shutdown? One where no deep state leftist gets back pay? One where we really do stop bankrupting this country?

It was cuts of 30 percent across the board. They will not end up with that for sure. Did they want 50 percent cuts? Matt gaetz never says what he wants except no funding for Ukraine which also was out of this. Lost opportunity because in the end the bill will end up worse.
They just shut it down three or four years ago. I think you forgot.

IMO, Republicans should be happy the finally broke up the Omnibus into separate bills for each department of government, for the first time since Obama combined them all.
Vote them individually up or down, don't fall on your sword immediately, which will only result in them all being combined back up into one Omnibus bill again.

A “government shutdown” is like a bank holiday where nobody gets their money for a while except for members of the board of directors and their relatives.

A shutdown means nothing unless “no back pay”, “no new govt. vendor orders”, etc.. Just means inconvenience to taxpayers (shut down national parks & monuments, Social Security offices closed, etc, etc.). Ends up being a paid vacation for govt. bureaucrats.
