Two United States Air Force reports, published in 1953 and again in 1954, defended the bombing of Dresden since it was a strategic target, which they noted was a major rail transport and communication centre, housing 110 factories and 50,000 workers in support of the German war effort.

Are there any parallels with Gaza? I tend to think so. Genericize transportation, communications, factories, and workers. It was operations like the fire bombing of Dresden and Tokyo, and dropping two atomic bombs that contributed to winning WWII while reducing ally loses.

The people of Gaza are culpable. It’s their elected government waging terrorism. It is the people building rockets from pipes from water pipelines. It is their active support of terrorists. Their will and ability must be broken.

The strategy of total warfare is required to win some wars. The war on Gaza is one. History is full of examples since WWII of fighting wars and losing or never achieving the original objectives of war.
