The left never learns from the lesson of the prohibition amendment to the Constitution. Creating a criminal enterprise black market economy that KILLS A LOT OF PEOPLE TO PROTECT THEIR TURF. But the newly made to be “contraband” flow never stops to the citizens, good or bad.
Also the muskets had superior rifling which greatly improved the long range accuracy that the British didn't have.

Those weapons were referred to as American Longrifles which had rifled barrels which had lands and grooves with a twist rate of about one turn in 50 inches to impart enough spin to stabilize the flight of the round ball projectile. The British Brown Bess musket was a smoothbore which was highly inaccurate at ranges over 25 yards. We could kill the British out to ranges of 300 yards. Just the observations of an old Marine Corps Armorer and gunsmith.
