He was nominated by president Donald Trump on June 7, 2017, and has served since August 2, 2017. That was after Trump fired Jim Comey.

Christopher Wray was Fat Christie’s lawyer during Bridgegate and got him off while his appointees were convicted. Chistie at one time supported Trump so Wray’s appointment was payoff.

Trump, admits the mistake but points out that Wray was recommended strongly by Chris Christie. Bill Barr was strongly recommended by George Bush.
