It began when schools proceeded to scrub all direct signs of Christmas and Easter and American Patriotism out of the schools, under penalty of losing your job and/or insurance. and/or a good letter of recommendation to your next employer.

The cultural dwindling continued, when the National Boy Scouts became a financial pinata for every tort lawyer who could find a plaintiff with a ‘repressed memory’ of alleged abuse.
The same Boy Scouts later forced to allow girls to join too.

Ties into a question I've had for a long time. What is a Jew? If it is defined by religion, then how can atheist secular Jews called themselves Jewish? Is it a race? If so, does that mean one can be a Jew by genetics and not be of the Jewish religion?

I ask this because I am descended from Jews from my maternal side and likely on my paternal side as well. Two large ancestry DNA sites indicate that some of my ancestors came from the Levant. My lineage shows the story of the Jews. Some Egyptian, then in the area Babylon was located and finally Israel (and oddly Cyprus).

I have a last name that is common among Jews. Everyone that has met me (including Jews) assumes I am Jewish. So, what is a Jew? Am I?

In a way this question matters. My son is at one of those campuses that are filled with Hamas supporters and violent protests. Everyone also assumes he is Jewish. Right now, he is afraid and has not been leaving his dorm room for the last few days. I’m thinking he needs to join up with some of the Jewish groups that are forming for self defense. If they are a target, he will be as well.
