You are guilty of AI tunnel vision and fail to see the true catastrophic ramifications.

“You are guilty of AI tunnel vision and fail to see the true catastrophic ramifications.”

I consider AI to be the greatest existential threat to humanity today. I’m not sure I could be MORE concerned. I plan to pursue a PhD in AI and see how to limit this risk.

If you read the thread, you’ll see that others are well aware of this threat, even those who currently use AI.

Take whatever position you want. AI is evil. AI is good. Or maybe the outcome of AI is not predetermined. Regardless, my complaint with your posts is that they add nothing of substance. You not only provide no insight into the reasons for your views, you don’t even share any specific views. If you’re not going to discuss the issues, why post at all about it?

You’re calling others on this thread “naive” even though the ones you’re belittling have extensive knowledge about AI and have articulated its dangers. It appears that it is you who is naive and speaking from a position of ignorance.

If you have something meaningful, or even humorous, just say it. Otherwise, your naysaying just sounds like a caveman ranting about how fire is dangerous. Yeah, it is dangerous. We know that already. We’re not naive. We’re way ahead of you. AI is here. The issue is: What are we going to do about it?

I consider AI to be the greatest existential threat to humanity today.

Then we agree.

We’re not naive. We’re way ahead of you. AI is here.

And there you are, being naive again, flip flopping in the same post, when you already stated "AI to be the greatest existential threat to humanity today"

No desideratum to over complexify the simple, expell extravagant time and energy on details that will bring identically tantamount result, the death of humanity. Gorging yourself on information, details, theory, and hypothgosies only diverts from the only concretely designed result, again, the death of humanity. lack of transparency for how and why AI comes to its conclusions, engendering a lack of explication for what data AI algorithms use, or why they may make partial or unsafe decisions.Emotional perspicacity is the competency to manage our emotions to surmount stress, empathise, and communicate efficaciously. This controvertibly matters more in the context of decision-making than perspicacity alone, because the best decision is not always the most rational one. AI will be the surmounter.

No need for a Phd, this is very simple.

Someone who actually knows what he is talking about

You’re contradicting yourself.

From the video link you sent:

Musk: The most likely outcome of AI is a good outcome, but it’s not for sure. I think we have to be careful how we program the AI and make sure it is not accidentally anti-human.

I pretty much share Musk’s view of AI. This includes that AI is probably more dangerous than a nuclear bomb.

He is also a founder of OpenAi and now working on his own x.ai. AI is also probably the key to Tesla’s future with self-driving cars and robotics.

The risks of AI are not going to be avoided by sticking our heads in the sand.

Wow, you really don't get it, AI if the final solution to humanity and you dance on the head of a pin.

No. You don’t get it. Being a naysayer is easy. It’s easier than being an armchair quarterback.

You’ve posted many times on this thread without one practical suggestion.

You are a bit dense.Practical suggestion? It is the summation of the end of humanity, it can not be any more clear. Simple truth, not saysaying.

You’re funny... but not in a good way as if you meant to be funny.

Your best comment is to link to Musk, but your position does not even agree with him in the very video you sent me to watch.

He left that interview and flew to Europe for a conference on AI safety. He’s leading by example. He’s aware of the risks, but he’s doing something about it.

He’s also optimistic about the future of AI and has entered the race to build the most powerful AI he can.

The race for AGI is just starting and your only suggestion is to surrender. For you, the outcome is fixed and predetermined toward imminent human extinction. No need for education, knowledge, or research; you’ve already done the requisite calculations and it’s all over for humanity.

Why don’t you go hide in a cave?

The grownups will take it from here.

Anything in between now and then is irrelevant you simpleton. Go rearrange another deck chair.

Classic projection. When asked to explain yourself or defend your position, your inability becomes obvious so you resort to name-calling.

Based on your lack of evidence or knowledge supporting your very vague position on the subject of AI, (as far as I can tell, your position seems to be, “We’re all going to die!”), and your actual advocacy against studying and researching AI, if I’m a simpleton, what are you?

AI will be a weapon of war. Even if losing against it is inevitable, I won’t just take your word for it, I’ll choose to die fighting. And I’ll choose knowledge over ignorance.

How exactly my pursuit of a doctorate in AI makes me a simpleton eludes me. But if you think your opinion of me matters to anyone other than yourself, you’re quite mistaken.

See tagline.
