This whole situation has been screaming "Deep State" from the beginning on October 7 as a way of making a fall guy out of Netanyahu. The left wants to retain its death grip on a globalist Israeli Supreme Court. The idea that the Mossad could have simply been lulled into that degree of complacency is total BS. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the CIA was found up to its elbows in this too.

Warnings have to taken and an assessment made. Apparently, the warnings were not strong enough to warrant concern. While this is considered a failure, the cost of these warnings in IDF time and money has to weighted against doing nothing. I do not fault the IDF or GOI of this. The 1967 war happened in the same way.

In the 1967 war, Egypt directly threatened the Straights of Tiran and Ghaza. The UN “peacekeepers” in place in both locations buggered out. Israel responded by preemptively bombing the Egyptian air force while the pilots were having tea on the ground, incredibly all at the same time every day (thank you, Britain, for spreading your culture through Africa), and then advancing through Ghaza with armor, scaring the Egyptians into a route despite their superior numbers and tanks. Where was the intelligence failure of which you speak?

Halevi was in charge of IDF during Operation Guardians of the Wall. Gantz was defense minister the operation. Halevi was appointed to his current roll in October 2021. And if I’m not mistaken Lapid was the alternate PM at the time. So I assume Lapid signed off on Halevi. Halevi is noted for the idea that increasing the well being of Gazans via an improved economy would decrease tebsions. I wonder if he was a driving force in allowing tens of thousands of gaazans to work in Israel. Which now appears like a huge intel gathering op by hamas..

The (female) officer warned her (female) direct superior, who cancelled her vacation to warn the (male) head of the Intelligence Directorate, Aharon Haliva, when he visited the unit’s base. Haliva disregarded the report and did not pass the information to the head of the ISA or the Chief of Staff.

My guess IDF knew but was expecting a small hostage situation.
