Would like to correct part of your post if I may......... “they are simply a reflection of American society’s norms and values”............Correction: They are simply a reflection of PART of American society’s norms & values. They certainly DO NOT reflect a goodly part of America’s norms & values. A comment like the one stated would lead some to think that all Americans are like this when they are NOT.

We were very fortunate to get several West Wing tours during Trump. The people giving the tours had to have badge access and all worked across the street in the Executive building. I asked one about bringing work over to the WW and hanging out & he replied that if you had to run something over, you were expected to leave once finished, especially if the president was around.
I asked how likely it was that an intern could be hanging out & one guy told me in the Trump administration, that would have gotten folks attention & would have gotten staff/SS attention.
My son was badged to get on the WH grounds and the Executive building & he said he would get what he needed or dropped off what was needed and got out of there. More of dilly dallying wasn’t tolerated.
So far, this story is being ignored by the “mainstream media.”
Last night and this morning, I found nothing about this on Fox, CNN, NBC, CBS, etc. I’m only seeing this story on conservative sites. Sadly, not surprising.
Nope. Have not forgotten. What I remember is that he got impeached for lying to congress about it.
While I agree what is going on now and during the 2016 election makes Bill Clinton getting gratified by a subordinate relatively minor, he got impeached not for lying to Congress, but for lying to a Federal Judge during litigation involving his sexual assault of Paula Jones. They did successfully cover-up his more significant sexual assault (rape) charge made by Juanita Broderick.
