Were they to imprison him, the Dems and the political Left would simply poke another hole into the sinking boat that is the US. Sure, the steady demise of the nation would be slow (perhaps almost imperceptibly slow), but the decent, law-abiding, responsible chunk of this country would have no reason to cooperate in government, serve in the military, remain peaceful citizens, or even support the continued existence of the nation/government itself. There would be every incentive to leave the country if at all possible. And those “conservatives” that just roll over and continue to go about their business unphased would deserve all the abuse they get going forward.
