Soviet good times are back in time for Christmas!
No eggs for Russians for Orthodox Christmas and New Year. Classic! Just like old times!
I wonder why Russia can't do the same? It's fairly easy to raise hens and collect eggs each morning for private use.
Pssst...Russians are people, too.
Eggs in California last year were as high as $7.50 a dozen...and Biden said....too bad.
You’re just making that up. Most farms had chickens...
I was referring to you...
100% chance your not in the United States.
When the chickens are eaten, there are no eggs.
The same is true of starving societies that eat their seed corn
$1.78 a dozen at Walmart. As many as I want to buy. Sucks to be a Russian.
Walmart eggs are 0.19 each. Compare Russia's market price of 0.07 each and supermarket by the dozen price of 0.14. That's cheaper than the US.
Reading the price further into the article shows Russia’s prices are cheaper than Walmart eggs.
Have they not learned to cook without eggs, cut back on the number of eggs in recipes or substituted other ingredients? If not, then they aren’t that worried over it.
Substitute bananas, yogurt (easy to make at home), applesauce, liquid off cooked beans, thicken a sauce or pudding with flour or cornstarch, etc. Want some Christmas meringue candy and don’t have eggs? Use aquafaba, aka cooked bean liquid.
What’s the average monthly salary and average monthly pension in Russia?
The question I have is...Who exports 1.2 billion eggs?
The average Russia makes 40000 rubles a year.
At these prices (150 ruble per dozen) the cost of having one egg per day for the year would be 11.4% of his annual income.
At .19 per egg, the cost of 365 eggs is $69.35 in the US, against a US per capita income of $65,423, that is .1% of his income.
So eggs are, relative to income, 100 times more expensive in Russia right now.
Are you sure its 40,000? That is about $440. Even for Russia that seems very low.
You, you miserable SOB, are going to be MADE to care about the problems Americans are facing.
Are you sure its 40,000? That is about $440. Even for Russia that seems very low.
Edit: That is the monthly salary. Still scary low for a civilized nation.
I laugh at you Russians when something innocuous as the price of eggs points out the economic failure of a nuclear power!
The average Russian household makes around $440 a month. Its no wonder they are always trying to cheat and steal others wealth.
But Putin and his buddies are doing OK. I think they spend a bit more than $440 a month. LOL.
Yes, I made a mistake and used the monthly number.
That would make eggs about 10 times more expensive for them than for Americans
