With 89% of Russia’s military now destroyed in Ukraine, according to the same source, I have difficulty seeing how effective a Russian attack against Europe could be.
Why would Putin want to attack the West? He gains nothing from doing so. The Leftist’s fear mongering never stops. They are trapped inside their worn-out playbook.
Anyone remember the constant drone of Iraq having WMDs. It came from Bush/Cheney and news outlets. It turned out to be a complete lie. Now the cynic in me would say that Bush and Cheney directed our intelligence agencies to say what they wanted the public to hear. We all know there was no intention to mislead and all the WMD propaganda was simply a mistake. /s

It would take this long for Russia to rebuild to a point they could threaten the Baltics, especially with Finland joining NATO (and soon Sweden, already a defacto NATO ally). Had Russia's invasion of Ukraine gone as expected (a complete collapse and victory within a couple months), they would be much more of a threat. In a subsequent invasion of the Baltics, I think Germany would have folded without a fight. Then France, Spain and Italy, shielded by a thousand kilometers, would also have caved and said "not our concern".
Attacking in 1 year is ridiculous. Russia currently has no capacity to invade NATO, and would be hard pressed to defend themselves against any invasion without abandoning Ukraine or going nuclear. Even the "six to 10 year" time frame only works if Europe reverses its current trend of rearming itself, a possibility which I do not discount.
A weak Europe invites Russian expansion. With a strong Europe, Russia will be limited to conquests in the east. Georgia is certainly at risk, but China might have a say if Russia wants to expand back into the Stans in Central Asia. Of course the wild card is a world war.
There’s a lot of people like you who are conveniently myopic when it comes to Russia having already attacked multiple European states.
And American businesses. And American government departments. And American states.
Thousands of times over the last 20 years. Without retaliation.
Here’s a small sample from the last six months.
November 2023: 22 Danish power companies attacked.
September 2023: Multiple public services and civic infrastructure in Bermuda.
September 2023: International Criminal Court; British Ministry of Defense.
August 2023: Czech banks and stock exchange; Poland’s rail system; public services in Alberta (Canada).
July 2023: New Zealand’s parliament and public sector institutions
June 2023: Multiple European banking institutions; U.S. federal agencies including the Department of Energy.
That’s not even a complete list from the last six months.
Pretty much every month for the last eighteen years Russian hackers have been hitting targets in European countries as well as hitting American institutions.
Here’s a question for you.
America got hit ONCE by the Islamofascists in a big surprise attack that cost 2,996 lives, and the neocons spent ten years literally pounding sand in a “war on terror” as a result.
By contrast, Russia can keep attacking your critical national infrastructure with complete impunity because you’ve not reacted at all - even though the cost of it runs into billions, hospitals on average see a measurable 53% increase in mortality rates when attacked, and the disruption delays / obstructs other treatment by 30%.
Not even when Russia has knocked out healthcare systems right across all of NATO, indirectly causing thousands of deaths, does the USA think that the bear’s poking it enough to get its finger out of its ass and do something useful.
Why is that?
