In Syria, Russian mercenaries attacked a U.S. position, a few years ago when Trump was president. The U.S. Commander contacted his Russian counterpart and asked if they were his people, and warned him, if they were, get them out. The Russian commander denied they were his. The American called in an airstrike, killing 200 Wagner group mercenaries. They did not try that [stuff] again.

Nixon talked about his relationship with Brezhnev, and how important it is that world leaders have relationships, even if they are enemies. Nixon made it sound like they spoke often.

During one of the wars in Israel, Brezhnev said how he was going to move his troops into the area, and that Nixon would then need to move our troops into the area.

Nixon told Brezhnev something like “I’m not moving our troops so close to yours - that’s an accident waiting to happen. If you move your troops in I’ll just use a “limited” response. (The term Nixon used was better, and Brezhnev knew he meant limited nukes.)
