Washington State House Bill 1143 is exactly what the founding fathers meant when they said “shall not be INFRINGED”.

Slowly but surly the gun control elites will disarm law abiding citizens ... not their own armed security of course.

The records may get destroyed, but the near simultaneous checks that are carefully recorded will indicate that you might have bought a gun.

Expect governments to try to confiscate all post-Brady Bill guns purchased.

ANY gun control law is an infringement.

The Soviet of Washington (as it have been known since FDR days) is ultra liberal and ultra controlled by the Democratic Party. We has patterned all kinds of virtue signaling laws after California. Our Legislature is into passing symbolic and meaningless “gun (actually law-abiding people) control laws.”

The 10 day waiting period on all firearms is just the latest and will serve to harm people who have just gotten restraining orders or people who decide to go hunting on the spur of the moment.

Our state's Supreme Court is elected, well actually it is usually appointed so that “the chosen” can run as experienced incumbents. Their elections are financed principally by the ultra-liberal and anti-gun, teachers union. So justice can only come from the US Supreme Court striking down the State laws as violations of federal Constitutional civil rights.

another hurdle for legal citizens....

meanwhile, criminals just steal and shoot....no papers to fill out, no waiting periods, no moral dilemmas...

The records are retained by the seller until the seller goes out of business. Then the ATF steps in and confiscates the sales records, effectively creating a delayed gun registry database.

“When an FFL discontinues business, the FFL must send their firearms transactions records to the National Tracing Center (NTC).”

The point of most gun laws is the harassment of gun owners; nothing more.

As the SCOTUS was heard to opine in the past, “A right delayed is a right denied.”

Unfortunately, all firearm transactions are no longer FBI instant check, but run through the Washington State Patrol on an untested data base that may not be capable of handling the volume. The legislators made sure it didn't matter as the waiting period only starts once the State Patrol says the person buying is OK. So it will start to be a State Patrol database as opposed to the archived records within BAFT or FFL-holders.

Also the person buying has to have taken a “safety” course that includes firearm storage and how to de-escalate a deadly force confrontation, with some firearms safety information to make it look good.

The whole point has nothing to do with safety. Its just another incremental step to total civilian disarmament (but only for the law abiding)

I think it is still there, I have a WA state CCW. I’m not planning on buying any guns soon as I have enough of them,
but this law pretty well kill off gun shows in Puyallup and Monroe.

If a person has waited until now living in Washington State to buy a gun, maybe they aren’t smart enough to get one as warnings as to the safety of that state have been flashing for years.

“...shall not be infringed...” This is a violation of the Bill of Rights. The Fascist left is out of control.

You bet right. Initiative 1639 made that provision go away in 2019.
