One of the great problems with the Parliamentary system is that supermajorities just don’t happen. Infact, the current situation which led to this crisis is that for a third time in more than 70 years, a simple majority has formed. This time to vote as a block on constraining the power of the judiciary. The possibility of a conservative simple majority just legislating as they pleased.. is what scared the Israeli left into literally undermining their own government to the point of the security services participating in the protests. It wasn’t a problem when the left did it. Sound familiar?

Oddly, the Basic Law provisions were only put into place by simple majorities. However, that said, it looks like only Article 44 has a limitation that seeks a 2/3 Majority, all else is subject to a simple majority.

From the wikipedia link you cited..

Article 44, which prevents the amendment of the law by an Emergency Regulation, can be amended only by a majority of 80 members.
