Donna Brazile is a blithering idiot it has nothing with owning it’s about the constitutional law.

Somethin the left can’t wait to get rid of.

Let’s hope all 9 justices decide the issue on its merits.

She’s right: they don’t.

As Irecall from my 6th grade civics class, Justuces are SPOZED to judge ONLY on the constitutionality of a thing, and NOT who appointed them.

Yeah, bites us on the butt occasionally; But that’s how it’s supposed to work.

(I hatr it when she’s right...)

The Colorado SCOTUS decision that the State of CO is ignoring?

Actually, she is correct. The justices don’t owe anything to Trump, but they do owe allegiance to the Constitution and to the rule of law. THAT is why they should rule against Colorado, not because of any obligation or loyalty to Trump.

I think it is ridiculous that states are trying to ban Trump from the ballot, but it is not accurate to say Congress cleared him. It would be accurate to say Congress did not convict him. A “not guilty” verdict is not the same as saying the defendant is innocent, it just means the prosecution did not meet its burden of proof.

This is a stupid game they are playing.

Let the people decide. Otherwise get Joe Biden off the ballot for ignoring the US immigration laws.

You're forgetting...He's innocent until proven guilty.

He was acquitted which is "not guilty.

Yes, they do. They owe him to follow the Constitution (of the United States).

What Brazile is suggesting is that if they ‘trump appointed’ justices rule against the ballot ban that they will say it’s because they favored trump as a person and did not rule on the law. They’re setting up a straw man.

The older I get, and the more lawyers I encounter, the more that I come to the belief that this particular group more than any other is profoundly stupid by nature and cemented by their education.

I have acquired the knowledge that I could easily be a lawyer if I were to choose, but those who are lawyers absolutely cannot become Mathematicians or Physicists.

The supreme court has a duty to rule according to the constitution-not loyalty to any individual, but democrats like Donna Brazile are clueless-and BTW-I believe with a jury you are either convicted/found guilty-or acquitted/not guilty, unless there is a mistrial/hung jury, which involves the burden of proof/reasonable doubt. Pres Trump was acquitted-as in “not guilty”-there was no hung jury...

Oddly she is right. As a Supreme Court Justice you owe your allegiance to interpreting The Constitution without political bias. If such is done, Trump will win 9 to 0.

Justice is supposed to be blind.
Due process isn’t being followed 9-0 should be the ruling

True; in theory.

Would we REALLY what our SC to be a lapdog for ANY president?

Adjudicate what the LAW says - not what they WANT it to do!

I am SO glad that so many Freepers have chimed in about what the judges SHOULD do.

Let’s all pray to GOD that somehow they WILL do what is right!

Trump was acquitted or found “not guilty” - but that is not the same as being declared innocent, which is what the poster stated that Congress did. In a criminal trial, the outcome of Trump’s impeachment would have been considered a hung jury, because there was no unanimous verdict, which is required in a criminal case. In a criminal case, for a not guilty verdict all jurors must vote that way. In this case, a majority of the jurors voted guilty, but not a supermajority which was required.
