Yes, there was a big program to catch up on deferred maintenance post-covid. The majority have completed this.
France has been running this nuclear system since the 1970s, note. It was fully built out over 20 years ago. They have a very long track record.
“To date, 11 of the 16 reactors most sensitive to stress corrosion have been repaired, and four more are expected to be fixed by the end of the year.”
We need to replace about 100 old reactors in the USA.
Then, build 100 more.
And, at the same time, rebuild our grid to handle the load and to harden the grid against EMP and other attacks.
Cheaper than a war.
I am a huge fan of nuclear power, and natural gas as well.
Surprisingly there are a few leftists that realize if EVs are going to become the norm, massive amounts of electricity generation is going to be needed. This level of generation is physically not possible using wind, solar, wave, or any other ‘green’ technology. As their head explodes they know that energy from hydrocarbon sources and nuclear are the answer - boom.
I luv it !
The handful of greenies who are functional enough to understand math are no match for the hordes of ignorant hyper-educated idiots claiming they drive their EVs during the day and charge them at night using their solar panels.
It’s possible but at a cost of taking millions of acres out of crop production. A windmill is capable of generating 1 MW of energy provided the wind is blowing. It takes an acre of solar panels to generate 1 MW of energy provided you keep them clean, free of snow & the sun shines.
