A retired military officer used to give talks to civic groups on the state of the Cold War based on supposed inside information that he was privy to. A friend of mine who was a retired spy heard one of his talks and sensed something was off about the guy, so he called a high level Pentagon contact to do a background check.
As it happened, the man was exaggerating his rank and experience and had never been a Pentagon briefing officer or even a military intel analyst. A few phone calls then ended the man's career as a local speaker on military affairs.
Macgregor reminds me of that fellow, being too definitive in his opinions and without a genuine strategist's sense of the uncertain nature of information and strategic choices in an ongoing conflict.
Worse, nowadays only a genuine dolt would not know that the Protocols of Zion was definitively discredited as an anti-Jewish fake or that Hamas casualty figures are grossly inflated for propaganda purposes. After the first month or so of the Ukraine War, McGregor, like Scott Ritter, has been DEAD-ON regarding the events there (saying all along that Ukraine would NEVER be able to take back the land that Russia occupies, including their ‘Greatest Offensive’), so I listen to him for that.
As far as Israel goes, he’s probably correct there too (saying stuff like Israel has isolated itself and will soon lose any remaining support for the conflict), but that doesn’t mean he’s on the right side of the conflict. And, like everyone else on that side of the conflict, he doesn’t provide an answer as to how Israel is supposed to live side-by-side with an entity that is hell-bent on killing every last Jew.
The bottom line is that there are people who are right on Israel and there are people who are right on Ukraine, but there are very few significant people who are right on both conflicts, so I just watch people like McGregor/Ritter/Dima to hear what they have to say about Ukraine, and come here to get news regarding Israel.

This book came out in 2007. I bought and read it in 2007. The book makes a compelling and comprehensive case that AIPAC has an outsized influence on US Foreign Policy to the detriment of our own national interests. They were essentially saying what MacGregor is indicating. It was and is a controversial book.
