These are no doubt wealthy retired black people who did well in America. I dont imagine the experience would be the same if they were low income section 8 people. Never seen anyone move to a mud hut in Kenya and just love it there....

How many NYT? You fou8nd one couple that is incapable of admitting the truth, who moved away while falsely accusing the US of racism, and that leads you to believe that there are hoards of black folks ‘fleeing racism’?

There are TENS OF THOUSANDS of citizens in Africa immigrating legally to America.
They read the news.
They know the deal.
They aren’t letting perfect be the enemy of good.
They come here because they recognize Reagan’s beacon, with its warts, is waaaay better than the alternatives.

I have mixed beliefs on this. First, I agree with other posters that racism did indeed worsen with a certain president.
It would be ideal to see the racist Blacks move to Africa, but that is not the solution for this country or for those moving to Africa.
The problem in this country is defeating leftism/communism, which is causing the issue. The best race relations were IMO in the 90’s. Even back in the 70’s it was better than now, for example I had a Black friend in the Army that would openly call me honky in front of everyone, and I would openly call him the “N” word, and no one cared. Try that today.
Another experience I had was when I actually lived in Africa in a US military base. The local government authority wanted all Black Americans out of the country. Why? Because they they thought they were superior to the local Blacks, displayed that attitude downtown and it went terribly wrong. I suspect the same will happen with the Blacks transplanting themselves to Africa today, they will arrogantly try to take over and make changes and it just will not set too well with the locals. They will be just as hated in their new land as they perceive themselves to be here.
I think it is a good idea. I hope many follow suit. Just don’t come begging the country you left for any money for your new country.

There is no way to compare their experience with that of anyone else. They had 50K to get them started. That much is a fortune in Africa.
They didn’t just go to “Africa.” Africa is a big continent. They went to a town in a country in Africa. The situation is very different from one area to the next.

I have no problem with that...at all.I would,however,want to see them be required to legally renounce their US citizenship. And it’s easy to imagine them doing so...enthusiastically.

Whoopi Goldberg had a little interview in a 1980s Readers Digest and said she’d been to Africa and was glad her ancestors had been brought to America. Said Africa is full of corruption and poverty and she would never live there. Bet she hopes The View never digs that up though it would be a great follow up from Sunny’s white slave owning ancestors.
