I had the same policy with my dad. Then at the end of a long day I made the mistake of getting on an up escalator ahead of him.
Fortunately a young lady happened to be several steps behind him, else he would have tumbled the full length of a very tall escalator.

You aren’t kidding. They are constantly asking this question at my Dr’s and therapists. At least two of my fairly close family members died of or never really recovered from falls. And we had a (very careless) good friend recently spend a day in a bathtub because she was to weak to get out of it after a fall and did not wear an Apple Watch that my wife GAVE to her. Never mind the fall detection, it is a phone you can always have available to you in a house if you keep your actual iPhone charged up.
So...just don’t. :)

The preventative solution is a replacement full size shower. Lowes has quite an array of showers designed and dimensioned specifically to replace a typical full size tub. With added hand bars you select, the likely hood of a fall is immensely diminished.
When my wife lost some mobility from knee surgery, a neighbor loaned us a shower stool that easily fit in the large shower.
I can’t over recommend replacing the tub with a large shower.
I thought the Secret Service detail was supposed to be helping him climb stairs.

10,000 steps is a LOT! I’ve been doing that many in the summer, a couple times a week. I need to step it up!
