I don’t use tik tok because of the CCP connection. However, I agree with those that say this is just another step to blocking information flow. Today it’s tik tok, tomorrow it’s X.
Banning Tiktok is one thing but how about when it’s decided there’s too much free speech on Free Republic?
I thot one of Trump’s men as looking to purchase it.
The legislation is not an attempt to alter any media company whatsoever. It is about a single company who is beholden to the government and dictatorship party of a foreign power, a dictatorship party that is in control of the customer targeting algorithms the company uses.
The legislation is not after “free” speech. It’s about a opposing foreign power’s control of something.
If focrced to sell to American buyers “free speech” would still be heard/seen on Tiktok, nothing in the legislation presumes otherwise.
The patriot act never used influencers to encourage idiots to swallow tide pods on a dare...Just sayin’
Congress was worried that tik tok was a bad influence on American kids, it wasn’t gay or anti-white enough . Hopefully when an American company buys it we can get some more BLM propaganda pumped into our children’s minds
Dana Loesch claimed yesterday that ‘foreign entity’ (or however it was specifically worded in the bill) was defined elsewhere under federal regs/code and stated that facet wouldn’t be a problem.
However, I seem to recall how the left has an affinity for changing definitions at whim to facilitate their ops.
A ‘ban’ is lazy and does exactly as outlined in the article. Congress needs to cease pleasuring their benefactors and serve the people as intended, or they can burn in Russian fire.
“The legislation is not an attempt to alter any media company whatsoever. It is about a single company”
Better read it... It gives the president sole discretion to declare any app, platform, or even web hosting a threat to national security.
THIS IS THE PROBLEM...
If you actually believe this is all there is to it I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you...
When has government not abused any and every power given to them?
Just planted the seeds that eventually led to a system that targeted an American citizen who wanted to Make America Great Again
Tiktok allows me to post actual facts about race, youtube and facebook won’t, that right there is why the elite hate it and want it shut down
What's wrong with a "foreign power" controlling "something"? Must America control everything?
The Chinese government is collecting vast amounts of data about, freely, about people worldwide. Don’t you think that someday, when necessary, some old posts or photos provide blackmail opportunity to China?
“It’s about a opposing foreign power’s control of something.”
Nonsense. It’s not about just any foreign power, It’s the particular foreign power. The demand would not be being made if TikTok were a Japanese, South Korean, UK, French, German, Italian (western) company. It’s not. And the dictatorship of the CCP has too much control of TikTok. Trump did the same thing with Huewei - the top CCP cell phone company.
“Banning Tiktok is one thing but how about when it’s decided there’s too much free speech on Free Republic?”
Exactly right. Or too much God on Christian sites.
This gives the president sole power to decide what can be on the internet using national security as the excuse.
Then on to Free Republic.
There is a lot of misinformation out there on the Tik Tok Bill, I just read a good analysis of it without the hysteria involved.

“It’s not about just any foreign power, It’s the particular foreign power.”
Wrong... Absolutely wrong. It is ANY foreign nation and the president personally deems as a threat to national security.
You really need to read it before making yourself the fool for believing the lie you have been told.
