Consistent with their pro-Soviet propaganda under Walter Duranty, the NY Times updates a Soviet classic propaganda poster "Achievements of Russia under with Communism" into the video age for Americans with their It Turns Out the Deep State is Actually Kind of Awesome video.

1) How do the authors know who constitutes the Deep State, what their activities are, etc.? Are they “members”?
2) How can they make sweeping PR generalizations about a large set of people, 99.9% of whom they have never met or spoken with?
3) If they know so much, could they describe for us such things as annual US foreign policy re: Ukraine, Eastern Europe, and Russia, overt and covert, since 1990? Is it healthy for the public to fund wars while our activities are secret?
4) Why would they assume that unelected bureaucrats working with little or no transparency would be utterly selfless, make no critical mistakes, and act only in the best interest of the US (while there is not even a concensus on what the best interest might be)? Does the DS perform better than the government apparatus we can see, such as the DHS? The authors seem to have zero knowledge regarding the well-known charcteristics of bureaucracies since their origins.
5) What drove publication of this article?
>Directed and paid by elements of the Deep State?
>Make the election about that instead of Biden’s failures?
>Pre-emptive strike, because the Deep State knows Trump will win? Good luck if they think the public will take the side of entrenched bureaucrats making huge salaries.
>Bait DS opponents into making this an issue NOW, so they can be undermined, declared threats to humanity, etc..

My “last” career was as a public school teacher. I think my colleagues did not appreciate my references to “back when I had a real job”.

It’s a strange system where “producing income” is never to be considered.

I contend that this dichotomy (public vs private sector) contributes/identifies the US vs THEM conflict in today’s good ole US of A

They are talking about the useful idiots the actual Deep State facilitators have tricked into believing their lies.

Leave it to our American enemies in the Press to praise our American enemies in the Government.

They like Taylor Swift.
They dance bachata.
They go to bed at night watching “Star Trek” reruns.

Nope, not me.

More importantly, when federal employees were allowed to unionize, the concept of “public servant” was promptly replaced with “self servant” and it has only gotten worse.

The writers of this article are delusional.

https://freebeacon.com/media/nyt-writer-urged-activists-to-escalate-protests-targeting-kavanaugh/

Lindsay Crouse, who earned notoriety after disclosing that her ex-boyfriend is dating Lady Gaga in a 2020 op-ed, said in a May 8 tweet that protesters should target the Chevy Chase Club because that way, she said, their cries “will reach not just Kavanaugh but also Justice Roberts—both are members.” She deleted the tweet, but only after it elicited praise from activists who shared the address of the club across the platform.

Anyone who’s familiar with some of the leafy suburbs where top New York Times managers live...Darien,CT...Alpine,NJ...Scarsdale,NY...knows that things *are* just peachy in such towns. Of course they never set foot in middle class/working class suburbs like Yonkers,NY or Norwalk,CT.

Donald Trump did not fight the Deep State during his first term. He did not even put Hillary in prison, though we all know she is guilty as sin. Therefore I will be pleasantly surprised if he fights the Deep State in his second term.

The Deep State is to a great extent the result of the creation of the US Federal Civil Service back in 1871.

Compared to the old “Spoils System”, it protects Federal employees from being summarily fired when a new President takes office, but it also means that some employees are able (perhaps surreptitiously) to carry over policies of the previous administration which are not policies of the new administration.

Since then, of course, benefits and protections have been increased, making it even harder to reverse government expansion than would be implied by the natural tendency of organizations to grow.
