“running his Açaí bowl joints with two employees instead of his typical four”

...and they’ll likely quit by being overworked. Or be laid off and out of business because these Acai bowls are $50.

And then they vow to raise taxes on the job producers, which is a real vote getter from those on the Left.

The $20 per hour is a red herring, and of little consequence. The real issue is that ALL INSURANCE is rated on your W2 Payroll figures. If your payroll goes up 20% that’s fine, most businesses can work with that, however when that happens your Work Comp also goes up a minimum of 20% and your Liability Insurance is likely to DOUBLE as a result.

A business has to make in profits, Double what they pay you just to break even

That’s where we’re heading. Was in a nice bar, not in US, recently where a robot by the front door took your table request. A human did come out to take us to a table but that wouldn’t be necessary. Though there were human bartenders, no waiters, replaced by robots. Table clearing, a human loading robots with multiple shelves which returned to the kitchen. If you walk in front of one they go around you or halt if there isn’t enough room. I assume someone loads the dirty dishes in a dishwasher and takes them out but didn’t see it so who knows. Bartenders were human.

You would think these so called policy makers would understand these businesses run on very thin profit margins and constantly are on the thin line of managing income and expenses. You can’t just artificially increase expenses and think there’s no consequence to that. That the business owners just need to “suck it up”. Nothing is free, someone is always paying for it.

This is designed to coerce owners to fire legitimate workers and hire illegal aliens under the table.

One thing people neglect to consider is that the hourly wage in California is just the tip of the iceberg.

There are a multitude of onerous government employment taxes you have to pay as we..

Things like astronomical workers comp premiums to pay for the freeloaders riding the very generous California disability system.

Politicians need to stay the hell out of business affairs. They know nothing about it and have no right to set any wage.

As always, it’s wise to do your homework...so I downloaded the WARN report spreadsheet. The most recent large employers reporting mass layoffs include:

Northropp Grumman in LA, 1069

Nordstroms: 784

Bristol Meyer Squibb in San Diego: 252

UPS in San Bernadino, 333

Safrin Cabin in Cypress: 281

Walmart in LA: 222

Those are the biggest ones going back to the first of this year, and it’s going to take a lot of burger flippers to equal this total. Of course smaller stores that don’t have to file a WARN report can also add up, if enough of them lay off people. And maybe the impact of the minimum wage hasn’t fully hit yet.

So they won’t have the help anymore to keep the place clean. This minimum wage raise will be great for cockroaches and rats.

Exactly.

As long as the Lying Liberal Media blames corporations only, their stupid audiences will believe it
