With the imprisonment of these poor souls, it is time
for conscientous Americans to come together and form
a support organization. I propose the formation of
People for the Ethical Treatment of Al-qaeda
Prisoners Imprisoned at Guantamo.
Please help
this fund and send financial support to the local
People for the Ethical Treatment of Al-qaeda
Prisoners Imprisoned at Guantamo office.
Create bumperstickers and let your congressmen know
we support this effort.
People for the Ethical
Treatment of Al-qaeda Prisoners Imprisoned at Guantamo
will use the acronym PETAPIG.
Thank you, and remember PET A PIG today.

This makes me cry - for joy!

Maybe they'll all escape and we'll have to invade Cuba. Is this wishful thinking?
I'd love another Caribbean beach resort. Fine Cuban stogies, palm trees, latina women, baseball....does it get any better?

US officials say the base is surrounded by mangrove swamps, salt marshes and dense bush - and the sea is shark-infested.
Not to mention the man eating plants and killer bees and leeches the size of cabbages.

But members of a movement that tried to prevent women working may be disconcerted to find that some of their guards are women. And of course Janet Reno should be put in charge of security.

Maybe they'll all escape and we'll have to invade Cuba... I don't know what Castro thinks of all this, but one thing I know for sure. He does not want these guys.

Aw, gee. I'd sure like to say I'm sorry, but I'm just not that good a liar. I'll say it then.
I'm sorry the prisoners are being treated this way. I really am. Yeah..that's the ticket..I'm terribly sorry they're being treated this way. And my wife, Morgan Fairchild, feels the same way. We're both sorry. In fact, we'd go and protest this, but we're on the way out. To dinner. In Australia...yeah...that's the ticket...Australia....

Ahem. I believe the term used by GeneD was "woman."

They need to watch out. Chainlink topped with wood is an open invitation to escape. They should cover that wood on the inside with sheetmetal, pipe 6" apart, stinging nettles or something. Those guys will climb right up that chainlink and work their way out.

While it isn't perfect, one might compare the Taleban folks to the Italian fascists in WW2 and the al Qaeda's as the German SS. Thus other than Mullah Omar, as the Mussolini figure in this analogy, who else must we really have?OK, lets give it a try. Nominating:
- bin Laden for Otto Scorzeny
- Saddam Hussein for Himmler (both like gas chambers)
- Mubarak for Goering (both are former pilots)
- Assad for Speer (both are young educated shmucks meddling in something they should not)
- Musharref for Gen. Franco.

Hmmmm..... Not comfortable, but humane? Okay, here's an idea, what if our prisons resembled this set up? I dare say we would have considerably more adults in our country at least attempting to have a productive life, instead of locked behind bars
At least it would be humane

"chainlink topped with a wood roof..." I worried about the same thing when I heard that. Shouldn't take too long to figure how to get through that wood. Should be metal. Metal would be good for a nice oven effect too.

Well I hadn't planned on a 'complete' analogy but if we must.Well, you started this, I'm just having fun.
The problem with the analogy is that there are no good candidates for Hitler.
For Goebbels, I think Al Jazzira (sp?) will work.
Sharon already said he likes being Benes.
And, of course, don't forget Clinton for Chamberlain, and Rumsfield for MacArthur.
