"I, ___________________________________, do solemly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed overme, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Ever wondered why we swear an oath to the Constitution...and not the Government???? (or to either the Democratic or Republican parties..as some seem to do)

p.s.....I,for one, am darn glad to see ya back.

Thanks for the welcome, saurapod. It's nice to be back :-)

Ben must needs to take a break in his defense of the present administration and reexamine his Constitution, Bill of Rights, Federalist and anti-Federalist Papers. After that, he should take a good look at the events which have transpired since Mr. Bush took office, then ask himself: "Are these things constitutional?"

If he is honest with himself, he cannot help but see that they are not. They differ little from the sorted Democrat policies of the past, and they show little signs of change.

There are people, powerful people, whole families of them, multinational corporations, loyal to no one but themselves and their goals, who are hell-bent on the destruction of our Republic, and have been so since shortly after it's foundation. Their activities have escalated since World War I. Globalism is the enemy, and George Bush is a globalist. Each and every piece of legislation he has signed into law, his appointments to and expansion of the bureaucracy demonstrate this. His relationship with Fox of Mexico is dangerous to the sovergnity of the Republic. His signature on W199-EYE, which ordered the FBI not to persue their investigation of the 911-terrorists, is treason.

But, it sounds like Bush is Ben's guy. He's a Repbulican, and a Christian, so he's cool. Well, who permitted NATO aircraft to patrol our skies? Who attends ceremonies at Bohemiam Grove and sings praises of Ozzy Osbourn?

I usually ask these Blind Patriots one question: What would have to happenn, what would Bush have to do, to make you see that he is not a traditional conservative, but a neo-conservative - one of many frusturated liberals who broke away from the Democrat Party and it's policies when it was too slow at "going global"?

It's not about bashing anyone. It's about the Constitution, period. I would support a Democrat if he supported the Constitution, and had a demonstrated track record of doing same. What we face now goes beyond parties. It goes beyond individual politicians. It's the survival of our Republic which is at stake.

The Ben Ficklins of the world will never learn these things from the talking heads of the alphabet networks. They didn't learn it in school (they did learn that Columbus was a racist, how to properly affix a condom to a cucumber (for all the good that'll do anyone), and how much big government loves them, however). They will never learn it here either, because they consider questioning their leader as an attack. They cannot (don't want to) see that the emperor has no cloths. Ignorance is bliss. I suppose some who do see a little, also believe that by serving the beast, they will remain safe. Fools! They will eventually learn a bitter lesson because, this beast eats it's own!

Whew! Where did that come from? Anyhow, let me know what I can do to assist with your situation, and I'll give it my best shot.

Take care,
minuteman

It is hard news. Part of it is an op-ed by Michael O. of ALRA. Part of it was from the Oregonian from today.

I would ask if what was stated in the article can really be counted as "vanity" if it affects all of us?

Please respond patriciaruth to that question. I post lots of stuff that is personal interviews- etc. Are those vanities?

What is Michael O's last name? or is it actually just O?

Perhaps if you had posted the two pieces separately I wouldn't have had to wonder "What's Up?"

I would appeciate it if you would not change the subject. Your original post dealt with the Park Service and their plans to acquire property. You also blamed Bush for that. Not to say that the Roadless Inititive is not a worthwhile topic, but I suggest another thread.

The Land and Water Consevation Fund is where the Park Sercice gets the money to buy properties. Also the Forest Service and to a lesser degree Fish and Wildlife. State and Local govts also get grants from LWCF. Congress has been funding LWCF since 1965.

As I mentioned in the earlier reply, Congress is presently funding LWCF, and other fund acts, at 100%. Congress appropriates money. The President does not. I suppose that it is feasible that Bush could submit a budget to Congress that included no money for LWCF. Or 25%? Or 50%. If he did, Congress would reinstate that funding, in Bush's budget, to 100%. As I mentioned above, Bush has tried to whittle at the Fed portion of LWCF by shifting some of it into private grants and shift more of it into maintainance as opposed to procurment.

I'll say it again: If you want to limit/stop the Feds from buying property, take it up with Congress.

Having voted for Phillips, you are also a half percenter and there is very little that Bush could do to please you.

If you insist on calling me a 1/2 percenter, it is no skin off my nose. I changed no subject, Sir. I know full well What and How CARA was forced into being.

Bush has Norton, Veneman, and other bootlickers in the positions that matter. Why is it that Land Grabs have not slackened under W? Why is it that I have to give W a free pass when i would not give His Slickness a free pass?

Please answer that Mr. Ficklin. You really should.

And don't insult the way i vote. I could not look myself in the mirror if i voted for the Shrub in '00, so i didn't.

Oberndorf. And i posted the way i did because it was exactly the way i received it. I was in a hurry to get it up on FR and did not recall his family name before.

I will tell you tho, that after 3 years of watching ALRA, they would not post anything that was not thoroughly vetted.

You should know this.

In the years 1995-1999 the Republican Congress held the State/Local portion of LWCF to zero. They held the federal portion to close that amount.

Or do you just need something - anything - to bitch about? Grow up.

Perhaps it is the "grown ups" who are saying what needs to be said and the juvenile groupies who interpret it as “bithcing“.

You can bash Bush all you want but it only shows that you don't know what you are talking about. If you want to stop the Feds from buying private property, you need to talk to Congress.

I did not say a thing about the Bush kid. I only commented on the silly Bush groupies who purposefully confuse Congress with the Bush appointed bureaucrats.

Has he vetoed any of the destructive garbage that has come out of congress?

You are quite correct. He hasn't lifted a finger, yet alone a pen, to stop any of the planned destruction of America.
