From your title, I thought it was an organ swap.

The Indians lost their Colon, aren't expect to walk the same till 2005, 2004 at the earliest.

When eBay hears about this auction item, it'll be gone in a flash.

The NY Post had another classic last week when Germany kicked us out of the World Cup:

If you don't think there's a competitive balance problem in baseball, open your eyes.

Oh yea! Those predator Montral Expos, ripping off players from the penurious Indians! (Maybe you got another example?)

Dammit, I've had it with these big-market teams robbing small-market teams like Cleveland of their stars. If you don't think there's a competitive balance problem in baseball, open your eyes.

Cleveland a "small-market" team compared with... Montreal? I'll assume this comment was sarcasm. If not, let me know...

ROFLMAO.

I'm from Maryland; I hate every NY sports team.

In case you haven't noticed, Bud Selig is both an incompetent boob and a serial liar with a record of falsehood that even Yassir Arafat, Worldcom, Enron, and Arthur Andersen could envy. I can't believe anyone purporting to know anything about baseball would use a Selig quote to bolster an argumement; simply priceless.

The only people who take Selig remotely seriously are clueless and uneducated-about-economics sportwriters and sports talk radio hosts, and the coterie of fans that blindly believe and parrot what they're spoon-fed in their local paper and on the radio.

Good article, I suggest you read it, and everything else Baseball Prospectus writes...real eye opener. I've noticed there's a direct correlation with intelligence and education level, and utter conptempt for Bud Selig.

OMG that is funny. Unfortunatley Kitaen is past her prime, but what a prime it was.

It was sarcasm, of course.

But if you remember, in the late 1980s Cleveland and Atlanta WERE discussed as examples of "small-market" teams that couldn't compete.

Cleveland actually is a "medium" market, only the 18th biggest market in the majors.

True. A few years ago the Indians were Neiman Marcus, thanks to Larry Dolan they are K-Mart.

Blue Lighr specails, yet to come, Jim Thome and Omar Vizquel.

Speaking of tabloids, I'm surprised that the fight between Roberto Alomar and Roger Cedeno hasn't gotten more play. Apparently they were arguing about (no joke) who was the better-looking player! Where's Neal Travis when you really need him? ;)

Larry Dolan is as mired in debt as WorldCON. When Jacob's was supporting 75-85 million dollar payrolls, he owned the team outright. All the cash from lodges, concessions and parking not to mention TV and the gate went to payroll. Now the money goes to service the 300+ million in debt Dolan took on to buy his legacy.
