Fr. Doc Ortman was a runner-up MORON OF THE MONTH a few days ago on the DFU Radio Hour. He must be excommunicated now along with the Sister.

"Many want poor or "evil" choices to be free of judgement or onerous consequences."
You hit the nail right on the head....

It amazes me how people attempt to twist the Scriptures to suit their own ideas...all it takes is ignoring the rest of the Word.
Galations 6:7-8 "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."

I, like every living Christian, am a sinner. I don't tithe enough. I curse. I have lustful thoughts. But I don't rationalize that my sins are anything but sins. You hit the nail on the head. These types are the wolves in sheep's clothing who appear loving on the surface, but who are inwardly ravenous wolves.

Ah, yes, the "Doc" playing with his verbal boomerang once again, and once again it comes unerringly back at him, hitting him right between his eyes. What a sorry excuse for a priest. As one other poster has pointed out, these are not Catholic priests, neither he nor the pastor, who also plays devious word games. They are new age, double-speak imitations. I fervently hope their parishioners will get them both removed, but I understand their Bishop has released a statement supporting them. Now isn't that a surprise.

"Fr. Doc Ortman was a runner-up MORON OF THE MONTH a few days ago on the DFU Radio Hour. He must be excommunicated now along with the Sister" Excommunicated? Not likely. As long as the US Conference of American Bishops is currently constituted by the freakshow that's sitting up there now, he'll probably get rewarded with a university presidency, sadly. Look at the Jesuits, for heavens' sake.

This church is about 5 minutes from my house, I remember about a week ago a couple of people were holding pro-life signs near the church, which was pretty cool to see.

Within ten years, Catholic doctrine will be virtually indistinguishable from from the Democrat Party platform. The Catholic Church in Michigan is a lot like that in Massachusetts: it has to bend to accomodate all those liberal democRATS that want to call themselves "catholic". Liberals in the church agree with the democRATic party on everything else, so why let a little thing like abortion get in the way? It wouldn't look good to boot a good democRAT out of the congregation, never mind the formal excommunication so many of them have earned.
I attend a parish that's slightly less liberal than this, and doesn't have any famous pols in it. But I have no doubt that, faced with a choice of the Church or the Party, two-thirds of the people would abandon the Church for the democRAT Party. The Cardinal knows that too, which is why he has to walk on tippy-toes. That's also why he hasn't excommunicated one of his own bishops, Gumbleton, who is so far left he makes Fidel Castro look like a Bircher.

To: ConservativeTeen "I remember about a week ago a couple of people were holding pro-life signs near the church, which was pretty cool to see." Damn, I think we ALL need to go up there and hold up pro-life signs and tell all these anti-Rome "priests" that they don't speak for us, they don't speak for our kids & they sure as hell don't speak for the unborn children of the world either.(Michigan is drop-dead gorgeous around this time of year, I hear, and it beats the heck out of the 90 degree weather we have down in the lower states!)

Ah, Catholic Clintonesque twisting of the language! It all depends on what the definition of "is" is apparently.
When Christ returns he will not recoginize the Catholic church as anything Biblical, it has moved so far from the Scriptures.
I think we're in for a little more than having tables thrown over this time.

Hmmm..... the usual anti-catholic vomit-slag on this thread. The Catholic church in America is, sadly, a far cry from the church of Rome. It's maddeningly liberal, criminally liberal I'd say, but don't peg all Catholics as bad apples because of the faults of a few. I'm Catholic and firmly conservative, a good number of us are and we'll do what we can to rid the church of the infiltrators.

It's all a business now, isn't it? We are much the poorer (spiritually) for it.
If you reread your New Testament I don't think you'll come across any instance of Christ or his followers watering down the message to anybody for any reason, let alone to gain acceptance. I'm starting to wonder if there's a religious organization left on Earth which actually uses the Bible as its guide.
I'm so SICK of people unwilling to take responsibility for anything, people who prefer their habits and lies to truth even when it undeniably stares in their faces.
I don't wear a rug and have never been in prison, but sometimes I just have to stare at the ceiling and yell "BEAM ME UP!"

He is quite correct. If one is forced to obey, then there is no virtue in obeying. All of life is choices. I'll assume you support laws legalizing rape and murder then?

We are free to choose between the Lord and the evil one. We are fee to choose the Lord's abundant and awesome love, and we are free to choose to deny it. The ability to choose is neither good nor evil. The choice made may be either. Actually, I was with him until this.
