I can remember how the media met our boys during that night landing in Somolia in 1992....glaring video lights on the beach that could be seen for miles...telling any sniper or artillery battery, "here we are!"

This old fart couldn't find his butt with both hands. Please don't disparage old farts. I expect to be one some day. Dump on liberals all you want, though.

Followup:
Where are the real war correspondants we heard from in WW2.
Start acting like them. Live in the mud with the men, eat their food, hump their gear, learn about their families. Show them that if a fire fight occurs, you'll grab a weapon and make that last stand with them instead of attempting to cross the line for an exclusive one-on-one interview with the enemy commander when things look bleak. And for christ-sake get out of the local Hotel Intercontinental penthouse suite.
...END RANT

Would we all be so supportive of the government's position if Clinton were doing the same things?
To: Notforprophet
Cronkite is a liar and a scumbag. Trusted? Never by me.
Anyway, why does anybody care what that bitter old lefty has to say about anything?

Absolutely. I remember when the Seals came up on the beach at Mogadishu and the newslarva were already crawling all over the sand waiting on them. That was Bush I, but even if it had been Clinton I would have applauded him making them get their lights out of the Seals eyes.

I found out in the 1980s that Walter is an old Marxist. He kept it hid when he was on the air on CBS. When you get to know what he really thinks, ole Walter is a closet communist.

If Clinton would have "..done the sme things..", the World Trade buildings would be still standing

Former UPI War Correspondent huh? And I heard him complain when his UPI stories where subject to direct censorship during WWII? Did I hear old Walter complain about the total stranglehold the government imposed on the press in WWII? This old wheezer makes me sick. When he apologizes for his "the war is unwinnable" remark back during Tet then I will take him seriously again. Nothing was farther from the truth and he must know that now. Cronkite is a disgrace to this nation. He should apologize to the entire nation of Viet Nam whom he helped enslave as well.
To: Paleo Conservative
He might prefer to pilot a Scud missle instead!

Is anybody surprised that "Cronkite" is pronounced just like "Krankheit",the German word for "Sickness"
To: Notforprophet
If he continues to try and sell this war against Iraq as vengence for 9/11 then he will not be the most trusted man in America.
To: Eaglefixer
I will never forgive Cronkite for what he said about Vietnam. The Tet offensive destroyed the VC, but Uncle Liar goes to the tube and says the war is lost. Bastard

"The most trusted man in America"? Just who gave him this title? I never saw a poll or a straw vote. I always thought Cronkite was an overtly biased, nasty old bag of wind, conclusions justified when he repeatedly took Clinton sailing on his yacht at Martha's Vineyard right after the Lewinsky story broke.

When I was growing up, Walter Cronkite was one of the most respected names in television news. Of course, since then "television news" has become an oxymoron, and Cronkite has revealed his true colors.
Walter Cronkite and John Glenn, two boyhood heroes since revealed as scum of the earth. Or lower.

Walter provides the voice of Franklin. (Other voices include Whoopi Goldberg, Annette Bening, Michael Douglas, Arnold Scwharzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf). The show airs over the Labor Day weekend. Gag! Puke! Vomit!.... Ben will be shocked!

Amen, and Amen! Preach it, Brother!
Worms like Cronkite (my sincere apologies to all worms, including even rounds and tapes) aren't fit to clean the boots of men like Ernie Pyle and Bill Mauldin.
Bill Mauldin, BTW, is lying very sick in a nursing home in Orange County California right now. If you know any WWII vets who could send him a nice card (apparently hearing from his old buddies is about the only thing that cheers him up), look over here:

I lost all trust in walter when he came to Hue in the Tet Offensive of 1968 and, when told of the many thousands executed and thrown in ditches by the communists, took no interest in it. Events subsequently confirmed and reconfirmed this massacre. But the great walter could take no notice. He was there to surrender if he could get out with his hat and buttocks intact. Little walter, as you would call him if you could see him in person, and not in his Wizard of Oz persona is right up there with Jane Fonda in the pantheon of unpatriotic pacifist peckerheads in my book. Nice to see them older and more shriveled day by day. Evidently they are not immortals, just peckerheads.

Just amazing. How many journelists have died already. 8 maybe 12. Ours troops have enough to worry about without having to baby sit the reporters. Why don't they just ask the Afganistan government for permission to roam around the countryside!! Then we will see how many more Danny Pearle's(Sp) show up. Parley

Who's Walter Cronkite? Mr. Cronkite is an arrogant, egotistical gasbag.
About a decade ago he was bringing his sailboat into Annapolis harbor. He called on the radio for a slip. When told that they were all occupied the lovable Mr. Cronkite - the most trusted man in America - said "Do you know who I am?"
I know who he is. He's a living breathing piece of dried out excrement.
