Well, that's comforting. My first cousin the welfare queen living in a trailer with her two kids and the boyfriend who spends her check on beer and cigarettes just became a really, really distant relative. Cool!

They are discussing the Skakel sentencing right now on Larry King. I was away from any news sources all day. Quick fill me in. What is the EARLIEST that Skakel can get out of prison now? And WHAT exactly was his speech?

Just read the Mark Furhman book on this entire sorry episode...

Is Mark Fuhrman going to write a book about the Vince Foster case or is that just rumor?

By the way, I think William Kennedy Smith and Stephen Jobs of AOL look remarkably similar.

Actually that's Steve CASE of AOL but you're right. They look like twins.

Just rumor according to Furhman himself. Then again, he might be writing it in secret. Smart move, if he in fact is.

BTW, I just started "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" last night. Looking forward to the discussion in September.

Anyway, as it turns out, as most FReepers are well aware, the handling of the whole case was outrageous from day one, the result was utterly revolting and I struggled to keep from screaming my way through the book.

Martha Moxley or Vince Foster case?

In his pre-sentencing statement in open court, he accused Fuhrman of preventing him from finding employment -- as though he were looking for it or even needed it.

20 years ago, Fuhrman kept Skakel from getting a job????

I already finished it. Fascinating book. BTW, there is a big legal case in that too but really small time stuff (Kesey's pot bust and then jumping bail for Mexico) compared to the Skakel case.

Actually I meant OJ - Murder in Brentwood. But you have a point with either of the others.

Gotta agree with you all around, TC. Fuhrman did indeed nail Skakel. Without that book, without all the questions Fuhrman asked, I doubt he ever would have been brought to justice. And the Kennedy clan evidently agrees with us, as shown by their venomous remarks to and about Mark Fuhrman.

I just wish he'd turn his investigative talents on the Hildebeast.

Since when did first cousins become "distant relatives?"

It's amazing. Skakel is Robert F. Kennedy's nephew, has the same Skakel blood in his veins as RFK's own offspring, and CBS pedals that as a "distant" relation.

Read "A Murder in Greenwich." It'll convince you. Excellent, excellent book.

Good advice. Two books that will clear up Humble's queasiness about "class warfare" in the Kennedy/Skakel murder conviction.

The moral swamp created by the Kennedy/Skakel unholy union is mapped out in stunning detail.

When Ethel Skakel connects up with Bobby and the Kennedy clan, the details get really eyebrow-raising in "The Other Mrs. Kennedy."

Some sharp observer created the basic Kennedy rule broken by Mike K.

"To beat the rap, best get elected to Congress before killing someone."

. . .rule broken by Mike K.

Oops--that should be Mike S.

Must have been thinking of Mike Kennedy--one of the recently dead Kennedy's who beat the rap on the statutory rape of his own babysitter.

Did you see Mark Furman on Fox and Firends this morning? WOW! He gave a first hand account of what it was like in the court room. He told about how the sister "Stompped out" of the court room when Mrs. Moxley was giving her statement. AND!! How Michael's brother, passed by Furman and hissed out "You son of a @Itch!" Furman said the judge knew and saw all of this behavior and was sure he took it all into consideration for the sentencing.

Also that Michael turned around and glared at Furman with eyes that could kill. Mark said, he saw a side to Michael Skakle that not many people have seen. That of a man with a huge temper and can quickly get out of control. Furman said, with that temper, Michael will have a hard time in prision.

I just wish he'd turn his investigative talents on the Hildebeast.

Amen to that brother. The only thing I'd worry about would be "Arkanside."

Thanks for the summary of the Fuhrman interview. Sorry I missed it. I wonder if Skakel can control his temper for 10 years? If he can't and if he doesn't show remorse, he just might do 20 years -- or even more, assuming he even survives.
