The surest way to make it happen again is to go and start throwing stones at somebody. Not if you've got bigger stones.

This guy and Steve Earle are probably good buddies.

Hurst artwork rescued from rubbish
A part of the Damien Hurst window artwork at the Eyesto'rm gallery in central London. The work of art was thrown away by a cleaner, who thought it was a pile of old rubbish left over from a party the previous night. The artwork was restored to its former glory by gallery staff when the mistake was spotted. The work, which is for sale for a six figure sum, is waiting for a buyer.---The Guardian

IMHO, Sally's response is the proper one:
We should kick his butt into the demonic caves that those demonic barbarians crawled out of. Let him personally congratulate them. I really feel this is garbage, just like his art is
Let him experience first hand their artwork. Sick idiot.

Let's blow him up and see if anybody calls it art.
To: PJeffQ
on one level they kind of need congratulating, which a lot of people shy away from, which is a very dangerous thing." No pervert, you are the very dangerous thing.

Hirst is a pig, and unfortunately he probably reflects the "thinking" of a lot of "people" in the "art" world. I really would like the opportunity to knock his teeth out.

"I'm calling on the art community to rise up."
Don't count on it, the art community is comprised 90% of a**holes.
To: PJeffQ
Perhaps if this A..hole was pushed off of a high building, the red splat on the sidewalk would make an interesting Rorschok (sp) ink blot.

Mr. Hirst and his cohorts have not passed thru the "Mommy look what I made with my poopoo" stage of human development. Sublimation is a concept too tenuous for them.
"on one level they need congratulating", on another level, they need see their "art" make that counterclockwise spiral journey. It's a part of growing up. Idiots.

"Hirst went on to say that any military action to stop more terrorist acts would be a mistake..." But what if our bomb explosions are done with visual impact in mind? Then killing the enemy would be ok, right?

There is a fiflthy, reeking dumpster behind A thai resturant near my house he would just love!

Damien Hirst is famous for sawing animals in half and sticking them in formaldehyde.
My sister tried to explain to me why this is art:
Her: "Art needs to progress."
Me: "Why?"
Her: "It just does."
Me: "Who said?"
Her: "No one said, it just is."
Me: "No it isn't. You can't tell me that a sawed in half cow is progress compared to a Monet anyway."
Her: "I'm just telling you what the artists think."
Me: "Well that's insane."
Her: "That's the arts world for you."

This sick bastard needs a railroad spike driven through his forehead and into the white centerline on Broadway!

There is art, and then dying people, dying artists. One is art, the other is called Nazism, book burning, art burning. Welcome to 21st century leftist Democrat liberal fascist crytal nacht!
Memorialise the WTC as Crytal nacht, because this is the day Dems pogromed a victim America.
To: PJeffQ
It doesn't suprise me that an "artist" is saying this.
To: PJeffQ
It sucks, but he's right. Anyone who's watched Leni Reifenstall's "Triumph of the Will" or any films of Hitler's armies on the march knows it.
To: PJeffQ
No, but a one-shot 1000 yard sniper kill on an alleged artist would be a work of art...

"kind of like an artwork in its own right." Does this fall into the "I don't know if it's art, but I like it" line of thinking?
To evaluate the WTC attack on any sort of artistic scale offends me both as an American and an artist. What an ugly statement for this person to make!
