We'll, I suppose it's relative, considering we only have 30 mil people and the U.S. has 280 or so, and we still get that many viewers, on that scale, hockey is more popular. The fact is, this media attention is fantastic when it comes to opening up Canadian's eyes.

Don Cherry is EXTREMELY popular with hockey fans and men in Canada. The TV ratings even show the French speaking fans tuning in to him between periods. Getting rid of him for his outspokenness with be very difficult for the suits at the Communist Broadcasting Corp. (CBC).

I agree, we can't divergent opinions on CBC can we? By divergent, do you mean trying to find someone in Canada who actually likes and watches the CBC, other than hockey of course? Good luck. The CBC is one of the longest running jokes in Canadian history, aside from the CFL that is. (Although I personally quite like the CFL)

C'mon, tell us what he said!
Cherry, I'm told by the rector of our church in North Andover, Mass., used to be a member of our congregation. His son's kidneys suddenly failed, and Cherry donated a kidney to the boy.

Some of what Cherry said: "All they [the Canadian Government] needed was to say `We back you.' They [the U.S.] didn't want any troops. Just say we back you. When the chips were down we turned our back on them."
You could see it on the CBC website:
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hnic/coach.html No wait, the Communist Broadcastic Corporation has all of his "Coach's Corner" commentaries EXCEPT the 22 Mar 03 one. What a surprise!

I spent six months in Canada in 1994. (Kitchner-Waterloo, eh?) Been back lots of times for one week trips. Other than Hockey Night in Canada and a really cool sign-off I don't remember watching much of CBC, so you're probably right. Be ya can't help liking average Canadians and Molsons, eh?
