was it over when the Germans Bombed Pearl Harbor,
NO,
Let's do it

If your leadership skills are no better than
your knowledge of history, you'll be 'doing
it' all by your own self.

Who cares about WMD other than those trying to make Bush look bad? saddam bankrolled the WTC attacks, both in '93 and 9/11.

RE: 9/11 has anyone made that connection? I admit I only get my news here - but haven't seen that. I have seen it mentioned together - but so far no real connection. I am really asking for information purposes - not to be confrontational.

All the credibility we need just rolled across Iraq like a megaton of bricks

Military credibility for certain. There is no one on the earth that can stand against us. But, not everything we need to accomplish (for our own domestic good) can be accomplished by military force. Sometimes we need to have people cooperate with us because they believe in us, in what we say, not because they fear us. Saddam just learned what happens when your supporters are your supporters mainly because of fear.

I just wish Bush had emphasized all the other totally valid reasons for invading Iraq more than just the WMD angle. Now, we are going to have to produce them (soon) or we'll suffer difficulty in getting voluntary cooperation from the marginal countries in the future. Of course, we can always use the threat of force, but that's expensive and taxes our domestic well being.

"Imagine how difficult it would be to find 10 kilos of cocaine in New York City," he said.

Well, you'd have to look outside New York City...in Chappaqua. You could probably find all the cocaine you wanted at a certain residence.

from post #7 a quote from the movie,

We've got to take these bastards. Now, we could fight 'em with conventional weapons, But that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, in this case, I think we have to go all out. I think this situation absolutely requires that a futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part." "And we're just the guys to do it." (Courtesy of "Animal House")

prior to that scenen John Belushi the college drunk tried to fire up his frat mates with the speach where he says, Was it over when the germans bombed pearl harbor, everybody just looks at eachother but let's him continue

If you will go the the very last entry here:

DUBOB 11-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....

...and start scrolling backwards, there are links ( among many, many other links ) that should tell you the story. Be advised, it's a lot of reading.

If these weapons are not found in Iraq, then the Arab world could come to the conclusion that the country was invaded under false pretenses and that it was not legal,

Ooopsie. Our Bad.

You're not being confrontational by asking - someone else got upset at my answer (like I make this stuff up, right? - LOL); THAT's being confrontational!

Since it was the Israeli intel service which provided the info, I assume (ass-u-me; assuming is very dangerous!!) that it is being downplayed because of the sensitivities regarding israel, or because someone is protecting a source. It was in the press a few days after 9/11. I saved off the text and on 27 Dec 01 my HD crashed and I lost the source. I still have the text around somewhere, but the salient fact is that there was unequivocal proof that saddam hussien had bankrolled both WTC attacks and it had been provided to US authorities.

I haven't heard anything except a few passing remarks (like it was no big deal) in the media since then. Now you know as much as I - LOL!!

1) It took weapons inspectors a couple of years to find WMD in Iraq after the Gulf War, so it's not surprising we haven't found anything in the week since the end of the major fighting.

2) Saddam (with the help of Russia) moved the vast bulk of his WMD to Syria.

I haven't either - and I am not doubting it - but the government hasn't even made that assumption. Quite frankly, I don't think the government wants the true backers uncovered. I think it will, in some part, point to Saudi Arabia and to organizations here in America.

I don't know; the article really said nothing more than saddam hussien bankrolled to two WTC attacks.

If I understand you correctly, you don't trust Saudi Arabia any more than I do. Don't know if the Saudi gov't had a direct hand in 9/11, but it sure makes one wonder when so many of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi citizens, doesn't it!!??

Couple this with the story, also posted here on FR, about the 16 year old Saudi national attending private school in NYC, caught by his teacher the week before 9/11 staring out the schoolroom window at the WTC. When asked what he was doing, the student stated that he was looking at the WTC because it wouldn't be there much longer. It seems easy to assume (THAT word again) that the entire Saudi community knew about it beforehand.

In another thread, at another time, long, long ago (little starwars humor there), I opined that the Saudi's were being friendly to us because it was good business to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. After all, the koran tells islamics never to make friends with an infidel, or to enter contracts with infidels, but if an islamic DOES either, lying, cheating, stealing, breaking the contract, killing the infidel is AOK.

Like I said, sure makes one wonder!!

Pathetic ... the flag on the statute was a personal slap in the face - the flag was flying at the Pentagon on 9/11.

Also ... what ever happened to those 3 ships belonging to Iraq which are still out there somewhere ...??
