A little of topic, but can anyone tell me what laws their are against owning Machine Guns. The History Channel was running a special called "Tales of the Gun" and one of those little blurbs they show right before a commercial break said that in the last 80 years their as only been one documented crime in which a machine gun was used, and it was done by a police officer.

I hope the house doesn't pass it, but I can not ASSUME that.

Back in '96, the House repealed the assault weapons ban on a vote of 239-173. Gun control was a strong issue for Democrats back then; now they don't want to talk about it. The renewal bill is going nowhere.

Probably, but expect it's provisions to be tacted onto some unrelated, or barely related, "must pass" bill. that's the way most federal gun control laws are enacted. Often as part of an "omibus crime control" bill. Homeland Security II would be a good canidate for this tactic.
