On behalf of the physicians who use their brains, I apologize for the left wing, socialist physician groups which support this ban. It is not based on evidence, merely feelings.

You should understand that most national physician organizations are run by doctors who don't have real jobs in the first place...most are academic tenured professors who know as little about firearms as they do about the private practice of medicine.

Taking a look at the list of organizations in the article, I was struck by the notion that they are probably mostly made up of ugly women. So, I guess that the article title Broad Coalition is probably appropriate...

Actually, most real-life practicing MD's have 'normal' opinions on the topic. I know one who's a member of NRA, and another who owns a few smaller weapons for critter control.

But the AMA is like the Amer. BAR Assocn: run by leftist wonzos who take the dues money and do what they want. MD's generally regard them as irrelevant idiots.

Let's hope that DiFi, or some other Democrat, succumbs to the pressured from these groups and tampers with the bill.

All ready been done in a House version of the "renewal". H. R. 2038 This was introducted on May 8, and after a quick look, it appears some "named" guns have been added and the "test" for an AW has been expanded to require only one "evil feature", rather than two. Plus definition of "pistol grip" changed to include a thumbhole stock. Also the following would now be "assault weapons" under the bill:

`(J) A frame or receiver that is identical to, or based substantially on the frame or receiver of, a firearm described in any of subparagraphs (A) through (I) or (L).
`(K) A conversion kit.
`(L) A semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General. In making the determination, there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any Federal law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.'.

American Academy of Pediatrics
(To keep people from shooting themselves in the foot)

Ummm, Pediatrics refers to treatment of children, not feet. "For the Children" don't you know.

To the gun-grabbers from the pro arms rights community.

Message follows:

Meaning: I am on fire and have dangerous cargo; keep clear. :)

It's ironic so many churches support gun-control. The only reference in the Bible to subjects being forbidden to own weapons is when the Philistines were oppressing the Israelites just before Saul became king.

The AELC, like the United Methodists, and the UCC, have not theological positions on ANYTHING.

That's because these groups have no THEOLOGY. Why waste time on Scripture if you don't have a theology?
