Good post. McCarthy went after the ancestors of today's neo-cons who rode the democrat party and Communism to pursue world dominance. That failed.
Today whoever opposes world dominance neo-cons, now infiltrating the Republican party, gets the same smear treatment that McCarthy received.

I dont think i understand your point fully.

Neocon seems to be a term used by the left for supporters of Israel and I dont see how they are comparable to commies.

Like I said probably missed the point.

Apparently Trotskyite Jews have taken over the GOP. The 95% of Republicans and around 60% of Democrats who supported the war in Iraq have been brainwashed by the "neocon" Trotskyite Jews in the Bush administration.

And you thought Cheney and "Big Oil" were running Bush.

Seriously ...if anyone knows the orginal source on the "neocon Trotskyite Jew" theory of current affairs, I would appreciate a link. It is all over left wing websites but I haven't been able to track down who started it.

That is the silliest statement I have seen on Freep in about a year.

Trotskyite Jews?

Cheney must have hidden his yarmulke, Powell & Rice must be of the sephardic variety, Bush I guess is a trotskyite jew for jesus?

Egads man!

Wolfowitz and Fleischer run the admin?

the los angeles times still runs articles absolving the hollywood communists and blaming republicans.

i wonder if nixon would have continued his presidency if he has not involved himself with the huac investigations, and had not colored helen douglas as "pink"? nixon was always paranoid of the u.s. state department, and for good reason. meanwhile, the american media infiltrated by leftists was out to get him.

hollywood has yet to make a movie admitting the success of america and the downfall of the soviet union.

Fascinating. This needs a new keyword.

History continues to prove Joe McCarthy right. Joe had a great nose for fretting out communists and he knew the damage they could do to America. The damage of which we see all around us today.

The Political Correct movement is far worse than anything that the Left accused McCarthy of doing. The Communists in today's Democrat Party are those who are pretending to be Socialists hiding behind the Liberal label.

Think the communist infilitration is limited to the democratic party? Think again.

Egads man!

Lol...it gets worse but I'll spare you the details. Suspect the neocon stuff began with the Worker's World Party and got into the liberal hive because of the success of A.N.S.W.E.R. Maybe it is a postive sign. Wrong as they were, most liberals had a logical framework upon which they operated. Now it is Alice in Wonderland mets Art Bell and Tim Leary.

I posted this article on my website...

This is the response I got from my resident socialist/communist...

(snip)
Now see it is very easy to look back on history and conjure up conspiracies. I think people need to remember that FDR was fighting Facism. That he had to make the descision as to who was the bigger threat, Stalin or Hitler. He chose Hitler. Was he right or wrong? One cannot say but I have a feeling that Hitler was the bigger threat at the time.

As for McCarthy this is a touchy area. Were some of the people McCarthy went after Communist? Yes. But where all them? No! I think Joe McCarthy got carried away with himself. And he ruined a lot of peoples lives. Was the communist spy a threat to our country in the 1950s? Yes. But so was Joe McCarthy. I am sorry I do not want to live in a country where I can be damned for having socialist leanings and that was what that committee turned into.

And as for Nixon...Well there was someone who was never too concerned with the constitution if it didnt fit his agenda.

I understand this board is meant to promote discussion but I do think you should carefully consider the articles you post. One of the biggest cultural issues (in my mind) is the revisioning of history. There are people out there writing articles about how the Holocaust was a hoax...How FDR knew or worse cooperated in Pearl Harbor...

I cant help but feel this article is bording on that disturbing trend.(/snip)

....I just wanted to beat my head against the wall...

Think the communist infilitration is limited to the democratic party?

Where does it say that I limit communist infiltration to only the Democrat Party? Is there anything incorrect in what I said? Your Post #51 makes it sound like only Joe McCarthy knew how to ferret out the communists that are all around us...Yes? No? So, what's the big deal here?

Think again.

Exactly, and don't assume.

While McCarthy may have been correct about the sheer volume of penetrations, didn't he accuse people of being Communist who were not?

Absolutely, I personally never let anyone slip "McCarthyism" into debate or casual conversation unchallenged. "He was exactly right, you know; why do you still use that word as if it is a bad thing, in light of declassified Soviet transcripts?" Oftentimes, this initiates very interesting conversation as so many are unawares. At the state capitol in Des Moines, IA is the Wallace State Office building, named after Henry Wallace, who was FDR's VP. You think Harry Truman was soft on commies? Had Henry Wallace became President - an entirely likely scenario had he remained VP in '44 - his choice for secretary of war was a KGB spy. The cold war would have ended a bit different!

Anyway, historians are loathe to play "what if" which is OK, but what about "WTF, over?" when it comes to the left and communism? They have never come clean on this whole issue and plays a good part of my inherent distrust of so-called liberals and all the "progressive" issues.
