I think a critical mass is about to pop.

Duct tape - Glenn Beck recommends several wraps around the cranium ... for you - make that six or seven at least. Perhaps a wrap or two of fiberglass reinforced packing tape would be good insurance too ...

They know more about us than most of us do.

Hmmm ... the 'Betty Jo' file' the terrs keep says: "prone to repeat every cock-eyed conspiracy theory floating on the web - a good stooge for our operation of spreading mis-info and the roots of terror the likes of which we could never conceive or achieve ourselves" ...

Also, why the CDC is giving out wrong info ..

A 'new' contagion, short on specific information on this disease causes them to fall back on extrapolating what they know about similar contagion ... these and other simialr answers are the rational, realistic reasons - not some conspiro-loon concocted 'story' about as yet never-proven bio-terrorism yet untold ...

my bet is they (including the CDC) are FREAKING OUT right now while trying to maintain a public calm.

I thought that FREAKING OUT was reserved soley for SARS - a disease which in my opinion of many here on FR represents a potential end to mankind ... and therefore a greater threat than mpox ever could ...

Ari, I am getting pretty suspicious. Are you?

How much 'suspicion' and paranoia are you capable of on a continuous basis?

From whence does this wealth of paranoia spring? Why is it only reserved for things medical - aren't afraid your phone calls are monitored, your mail read/Xeroxed and your e-mails archived for some future sinister reason?

Health officials cautious about possible monkeypox spread. Two health workers now suspected of having caught monkeypox from human patients.

Boyfriend of one of those health workers also has a suspicious rash. That would be a tertiary case (second stage of human-human transmission) if it turns out to be monkeypox.

Hey Jim, You should only make one un-responded-to post per thread. Anything more is considered impolite.

Well, Jim, aren't you a friendly and cheerful sort...

I hope we are wrong in our concern about timely and accurate reporting to the public. I am normally pretty optimistic, but have been around long enough not to believe everything I read and see in the media.

People have lots of agendas. It is important to me to be well-informed, and to make sensible decisions based on the best information available.

Some of us who have been following this story live quite close to areas that have been affected, and therefore need to know all we can. Perhaps you are more fortunate in living farther from Toronto or other areas affected.

Bio-weapons work better, because they don't destroy the infrastucture.

Hi Jim,

I know you're an engineer, like most engineers I've known you don't do well with people. Some people may not understand you're trying to make them see a bigger picture, and mean no ill will. There are better ways to make a point; a majority of people are right brained and will reject an argument based debate. I enjoy your viewpoint and don't want to see you shunned, or eventually deleted. I was once like you, my wife would whisper "people skills" in my ear. It's helped a little, I have a couple friends now.

Dear sir, you must be mistaken. My doctor just informed me a few weeks ago that it was IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to get Chickenpox twice.

It's sad that a man with an 8 year education can look so confused whilst spouting off such misinformation.

I live in the Milwaukee area. Site of TWO pet stores that sold infected prairie dogs. You know what I think? I think this is a case of stupid people being allowed to be stupid. Now the health care system must respond to their stupidity by rushing in and doing the best they can to control and fix the situation.

The one thing they'll never be able to stop, though, is stupid people.

You are so right!

Isn't freedom a wonderful thing!

So, some of us need to practice sensibly defensive living.
