Cheers and have a cold beer.

Okay. Too bad I can't stand the stuff. I will, however, be happy to quaff a Diet Pepsi. :-)

.......Tested by the SAME organization that gave Thalidomide a "Clean Bill of Health!"

When Commerce, Politics, & Science mix, one needs to be a Little skeptical!

Just because Aspartame doesn't kill Rats Doesn't mean it's safe for Human consumption!

"EVERY food that you eat converts to some form of poison."

I had some onions the other nighht that could have poisoned a 100 people. After I had eaten them.

We are not all the same, and what might affect one person adversely does not necessarily apply to another.

A lot of people have horrible reactions to peanuts, so should I give up my peanut butter?

If your son is adversely affected by this product, then by all means he should avoid it.

You are so right.
This is nothing to laugh about.
I first tried Nutraweet when it was first on the market, I believe in 1983.
I used it daily, within one month I was admitted to the hospital with migraines, so bad I could not see and had a loss of equilibrium.
I was released, the doctors did not know what caused the migraines. I was 43 and had never had a migraine before.
One week later I was admitted again. One of my doctors had read a news article about a lady that had lost her vision and it was determined Nutrasweet caused the loss of vision.
I was relesed and told to throw away the Nutrasweet.
I was on the Federal Food and Drug review until 1990.
If you are drinking diet sodas and feel dizzy, stop the sods for a few days and feel the difference.

What Star Trek incarnation do you think is the most thought provoking?

DS-9. No, not 7 of 9. DS-9

I finally took the time to read the entire original post. It is the most unbelievable collection of innuendo, unrelated or non-contemporaneous occurances and other half-truths that I have seen in recent months.

Two examples come immediately to mind. First, when dealing with the issue of how many mg per kg of body weight might constitute an unsafe consumption level, the authors fail to adjust soft drink consumption for body weight and then go on to assert that additional snacks such as chocolate milk or puddings sweetened with aspertame could reach unsafe levels. The author ignored the fact aspertame does not perform well in foods that are processed with high heat such as milk (pastuerization) and puddings (hot-filled) because exposure to heat after the product is liquified causes chemical deterioration and loses its sweetening power. To demonstrate this, look at your can of Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi and you will find a quality expiration date on the container.

Second, one of the research sources cited (Wisconsin) was the same facility that turned out the phoney reasearch on "Cyclamates", an earlier non-nutritive sweetener that was banned in the early '70's based on a mis-guided medical study protocol that was funded by the US sugar industry organization.

That said, any food additive consumed in abnormally large quantities can cause individual health problems. Aspertame is no exception as indicated by the warning that appears on every package. Clearly some people have an allergenic reaction to the product. Some people are also allergic to milk, chocolate, peanuts, etc.

Neither of the two links are the studies. They point to other studies. Again, stating another study as a study in't a study.

Okay - The studies only point to the possibility of Parkinson's, but I for one do not want to take the chance. Much better to remember that God gave me this body as a temple and I am to try to keep it as pure as possible.

Define "pure". Home grown veggies only? Are you sure even those veggies wouldn't have rain delivered poisons?

People are free to eat as they please, but liberal ideas about what constitutes science, when they have at best a liberal arts degree, bug me.
