Beech 1900 Turboprop.Yikes! I flew on one of those from Santa Fe to Denver in October. Thunder, lightning, rain; white knuckle all the way! Long flight.

Plane made emergency call and Colgan Air tried to return to Hyannis Airport. It is shredded, pics on TV.

Yeah, that happens a lot. People get hysterical because something was reported initially and not mentioned again. The government muscle-men went to the networks and threatened them to silence (in 5 minutes no less)!

Ted Kennedy swam ashore and was found soaking wet and inebriated at O'Tooles Tavern.

It's Colgen Air, operating for US Air express. Was enroute to Albany, and the pilot declared an emergency and was trying to land at Barnstable airport. Crashed 3 miles short of the runway.
Per News 7 Boston.

FoxNews just quoted an airline spokeswoman who said that there were only 2 people on board. It went from 2 to 21 back to 2. We'll have to wait and see how this shakes out.

Question of the day:
Will Ted "Chappy" Kennedy call in some Naval assets to conduct a search, or is that action limited to searching for family members?

We're watching the same station. What's that big bit in the water? Looks like one end or the other, biggest piece I've seen so far.

Large fuel slick visible on the surface -- and now they are showing what appears to be the nose section below the surface.

He'll claim that it hit a wind turbine and crashed.

Anyone know how deep the water is in that area?

Yeah, definitely the plane is visible under the surface. White in color, but can't tell if it is just a part or the whole plane.
Seems to be confirmed there were no pax on board. Only 2 crew. God bless them -- they could be in an air pocket right now.

YARMOUTH, Mass. (AP) A plane that may have been carrying 21 people crashed in Hyannis Harbor off Cape Cod on Tuesday, Coast Guard says.
It sounds as though someone leaped to an assumption based on the standard pax load for the plane, not knowing it was a maintenance flight. Gotta hurry up and get that scoop, even if it's wrong . . .

Oh, tell me they got at least ONE Kennedy....

how deep the water is in that area?It varies greatly because of shoals, but in general it is no more than 20 feet.
Some shoals are at as little as 5 feet.
The ferry is always running aground when there is fog and the radar goes.

Yeah, thanks for the reminder. Many in the aviation community are STILL po'd at that and the fact that the NTSB called it everything BUT "pilot error", as would be the case for anyone else.
