Since it's that shallow recovery of the pilots will be a lot simpler and also the crash investigation will be much easier.

The divers just came up from that spot. They didn't bring anything (or anyone) with them. I figure they were down for about 30 minutes. They may be just changing crews.

A plane that may have been carrying 21 people The Beech 1900, an expanded King Air, can seat 19 passengers and a crew of two. That's expanded by the alarmist newsie to "may have been carrying". Screw waiting for the facts, or explaining them honestly, let's go with the most sensational fabrication, now... that's the way of the press.

Since it's that shallow recovery of the pilots will be a lot simpleYes, I agree. But I now think it's possible that what they are diving on may not be the whole plane. It may have broken up, and this part that they are diving on may not contain the pilots. It looks roughly like the tail section.
They would have brought them up by now if they were in the fuselage.

How true. Reports said 21 COULD be on board, so some poster/conspiracy whacko makes it 21 WERE on board. Also the "Oh, My God! I flew on one of those planes just last week/month/year. So did tens of thousands of other people, and they all got to their destinations safely.
(PS: Did you know the pilot drank RED wine last weekend!!!)

Wrong plane. That is not A Beech 1900, it'ss a SAAB 340. Horrible plane.
You'll know the 1900 if you see it -- it has a T tail.

"Witnesses saw plane explode."The press will have it blamed on Bush and the Republicans before the 11 p.m. news. Bets now being taken in Vegas on this.

Jambe I really take offense to your remark, hoping that one of the Kennedys would be on board. I have never supported any Kennedy, but to wish any more troubles and tragedy on that family is in very poor taste..

Chet Curtis, a long time pilot/reporter in the area, said the plane was in 20' of water. It's hard to conceive that they haven't found anyone. Thanks for the updates; I'm trying to follow it, but dinner hour is experiencing interruptions galore.

Sorry I was so quick on the trigger. Yes, this is the mishap type.
The reason that these planes take 19 pax is the federal air regs. If you have 20 pax you have to have a stew aboard. So a whole class of planes have been designed that have 19 passenger seats. Some lines still carry a flight attendant on revenue flights.
According to CNN:
"A Coast Guard spokeswoman in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, said the Coast Guard was told by the air traffic control tower in Hyannis that the plane had only its crew of two aboard, and no passengers. "
That makes sense because if you declare an emergency, the controllers ask you your fuel state and souls on board. The reason is, if things don't go well, rescuers and emergency crews know what they are dealing with.
A Beech 1900 was involved in the crash (charlotte?) where the mechanic screwed up the elevator cables, and the pilot couldn't control the plane on take off. It is a good machine, the military's OSACOM flies it as the C-12R, and it handles nicely.

Yep. Classic tactic of his was to highlight changes in the story. Duh...breaking news is always "broken". I got so tired of his crap once that I start a couple of conspiracy threads using his tactics and had some folks jumping in and believing it!

When the story first broke, the local NBC affiliate in Boston claimed that witnesses had seen an explosion on impact. And you are correct; there has been no mention of that since that I can tell.

Two divers back in the water, diving on the wreckage.
I am guessing that the first divers saw what was not a pretty sight, and now they are attempting a recovery of the bodies.
A witness said that the plane hit at a 45 degree angle at high speed, and splashed water 70-80ft in the air.
Not too easy to survive an impact like that.

The CNN report I mentioned:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/08/26/commuter.plane/index.html (yes, Fox is evenhanded and CNN is terribly biased, but on breaking news, CNN wins... which I accept cause I'm evenhanded too).
Someone namechecked Chet Curtis. Chet is a hell of a good guy. He & Natalie used to insist on doing their show from show centre at the air show, when the New England Air Show ran (used to alternate between now-closed NAS South Weymouth and Hanscom). They would always put the local SF reserve/guard unit's demonstration on the evening news, and give a phone number for recruiting... cause they thought it was the right thing to do.
